EnderTurtle's: Tye Dye Jawbreaker Tracking

Notes
  • Tyedye/Jawbreaker Discosoma Mushroom
  • Purchased: Diablo Corals March 2015
  • Feeding
    • Rarely eats food but sometimes will eat mysis/pellets if dropped directly on mouth and flow turned off.
  • Propagation
    • No one has been able to cut a jawbreaker and have it live.
    • Most of the time you get baby jawbreakers by "autopedal laceration" they leave pieces of their foot behind and it becomes a baby jawbreaker.

June 25, 2016 - Baby jawbreaker forming

July 12, 2016 - This baby jawbreaker started with a BIG chunk of red coloration.

July 12, 2016 One more baby jawbreaker is forming while the mother is moving towards the right. I notice she was moving this way and there was going to be a drop off beneath her foot so I put a rock there so she can attach. A drifting jawbreaker is a dead jawbreaker.

My thoughts? If you notice your jawbreaker wanting to move, put it on a slope to encourage moving. This increases the chance of them leaving babies behind.

Beautiful specimen! I like the greens spots that are coming out in the most recent pictures. I have been eyeing one of these mushrooms from Neptunes... One day:rolleyes:
