Marlon's 25 lagoon

I've been into fish keeping for the past 7 years first I started with a mixed fresh moved to a 55g African cichlid then a 100g then a 180gal cichlid moved up to petaluma couldn't bring it with me so up here I got a free 55 acrylic that I refinished and it was a African cichlids tank then a amazon biotope. I also bought a 12 gallon long mr aqua that I plan on converting to salt. I bought a 20 long that I decided to do a nano reef. I was going good for a few months then it started to leak so I moved everything to buckets for about a month. I had some zoas a birds nest and couple other corals. Most survived the bucket tank. I bought a lagoon 25 with price match for 208$ 2 weeks ago and transferred everything over to it except for the sand. For sand I went with tropic eden micro flake gotta say it's the best sand I've seen.
I plan on getting a hydra 26 and a tunze 9001 protein skimmer. I am currently working on some diy media baskets and a cover for the back part of the tank. Here is a picture of how it stands will add more updates as time progresses. I hope to learn a lot from members here. I am in search of more corals

12 long that is an African shellie tank. Will eventually be a nano reef with built in filtration.

I work at glass shop so glass and acrylic is readily available to me. I am missing one more piece of rock on the right I have the perfect rock for it just need some epoxy.

Thanks guys for the comments. I got inspiration from planted tanks. I wanted to go with visual depth and make it as dimensional as possible. I wanted to make it seem as if it was out of nature. Not sure if I accomplished that look but I tried. I need more coral and will eventually have more just gotta up my lighting to fully light up entire area of tank. And at @Enderturtle I'll frag you one of those not sure what they are but under blue lights they are stunning. I'll have it for you hopefully when I get the nems.

love that style tank so the lagoon is just a cube that is shorter on the height??? either way, Bad A$Z tank! keep up the good work
Yes it's shorter with a wider front to back depth. Love the layout but eventually I will keep this and go bigger some day. It's an addiction.

Thought I'd share a video of my old cichlid tank

So I've been working on 3 projects and have completed 2 of the 3.

1st was building an acrylic hood for the filter compartment to hide the wires and skimmer

I also wanted to add another rock to the right so I drilled it and stuck a rod through it. The rod came from a window shade rod

???

Also I took a massive risk by adding a coral beauty and flame angel to my tank. I know that is a massive risk playing with fire but I had to have those fish. I will keep a close eye on them so far they are getting along. Guys don't chew me out for this one.

I have my fingers and toes crossed. Also praying to Poseidon and aquaman that it works out. Just a small update.

Oh, there are much riskier things to do. Just keep an eye on them like you've been doing, keeping an eye out for aggression but also for nibbling at some of your coral. I would suspect the flame to do it more than the beauty.

Yeah I know what you mean. So far no coral nipping. Next project will be turning my ac30 into a refugium I just need to find a light that will sit flush on the top cover. If any one has any input on that let me know

Came home and saw my neon dottyback head first in powerhead. I turned it off and he swam away now I can't find him[emoji21] [emoji20] [emoji31] [emoji30]

Last week my Blenny was feeding on algae in my MP10 while I was doing a water change. I forgot to check to see where he was and turned the pump back on. I heard this thumping sound and finally realized what might be happening. Sure enough I took off the wet side and he was mangled in the propeller. He barely swam off and I watched him perched on a rock barely breathing.. His eye was huge and the lense was opaque, I was considering euthanasia at this point. This week his eye is not swollen and his lense is clearing up. Not sure how much eye movement there is, but he looks happy and like normal, looking for food in the MP10 ..LOL!.

Nice selection of Peacocks, even an OB in the mix and a cute little pleco. Sweet! Kind of miss my African Cichlid days now.

We had a Midas Blenny swim into a Koralia powerhead while it was off. Unfortunately, he was still in there when it turned back on . We found a dead sliced and diced Midas Blenny later that day. :( Lesson Learned!

With that said, I love how the Vortech Quiet Drive Pumps have addressed that very problem. The propeller does two quarter turns with a pause in between before coming up to speed. What a great fish saving feature that Ecotech included to warn your fish to evacuate versus just chopping them up. :)
