1" PVC Check Valve

Do you mean any time the power is off it back siphons?
I would not trust a check valve to hold back that water.
I couldn't find a post or photo describing your return line into the tank. It needs to be above water to allow air in to prevent the back siphon. Does it split? If so, make sure one line is above the water line. But still try it out to be sure, as other members advised me.
 
What does the return pipe look like going into the tank?

Hint: Your herbie is probably not the culprit to siphoning all the water into the sump, if it is... you have it setup WAY wrong.
 
i put a ball valve in my return line. when running normal it is full open, but when i want to shut off flow. i turn it 90degree so no back siphon

What happens when your power goes out and no one is home? Would that siphon going to flood your sump?

No check valve. If your back siphon is causing any issues, then take a look at the reason why instead, especially the size of your sump.
