    Can anyone identity this?

Okay this is great news! Thank you for everyone replying so quickly. I was hoping it wasn't anything serious as I just got my coral qt and fish qt tanks ready to use going forward. @Flagg37 that's definitely my finger ;) Thanks again everyone!!

    Can anyone identity this?

I'm hoping it's not a ispod but it has a similar resemblance. I was cleaning some detritus from the sand bed and when I moved my scoly 2 of these swam out. I did manage to catch one but not sure about the other. Any thoughts?

    Coral/Fish QT tank

Went to Petco this morning to get a coral qt tank and they have the $1 per gallon sale starting today. Figured I would share in case anyone else is needing a new tank :)

    Coral/Fish QT tank

I have decided I'm not gonna run the tanks 24/7 so I won't be keeping any live stock. I will just set them up when needed.

    Coral/Fish QT tank

Just wanted thank everyone for their input. Here is the QT tank I setup minus the sponge as its in my refugium seeding. Painted 3 sides and the bottom of the tank black. The small powerhead (rio 180) will move into my QT tank as that is next on the list. Thanks again!

    Coral/Fish QT tank

I was driving myself crazy on looking at lighting theffects past 2 days. Then I figured the tank will only be running for short periods of time during the qt process. Might as well go with affordablilly versus having a nicer led light collecting dust.

    Coral/Fish QT tank

That's more than what I'm wanting to spend... I think I might go with this one. It's inexpensive and will be more than enough light for the 10 gallon. I can get it for around $75 Coralife Aqualight High Output T5 Aquarium Lighting Fixture, 2X24W, 24 inch

    Coral/Fish QT tank

I looked that light up and it's nice but it's a bit on the pricier side. Seems like $129 plus the gooseneck mount is another $30. I called marine depot yesterday and they reccomended aquamaxx Nemolights and it's $89.

    New tank purchase, need help

LOL I was waiting for somebody to say that. My return pump is a reef octopus that has a float sensor built in. I have the float sensor in the over flow should it clog it will kill my return pump.

    New tank purchase, need help

Found a few pics from when I first set it up. Since then all the equipment underneath is different but same style plumbing. Increased the size of the durso drain to 1 1/2" and had to mod the return pipe to make it all fit.

    New tank purchase, need help

I have the same setup as you. I love my tank! I have done several plumbing mods to it since I purchased it. The owner Steve of SC Aquariums is a good guy! I have upgraded all the pumps and so on since purchasing it from him. I now use the old return pump for salt mixing station :) Enjoy!

    Coral/Fish QT tank

I have seen most people do use those with success. The thing is if I want to qt corals too will it be sufficient enough or will I need something more established if that makes sense? If I don't need something running 24/7 then I would want it to work for both avenues.

    Coral/Fish QT tank

From reading around it looks like to keep the bacteria alive there needs to be a fish living in there. Here is the article I read that on. http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2004-10/sp/feature/index.php

    Coral/Fish QT tank

Makes complete sense thanks! Then I keep this qt tank for observation only adding live rock and if I need to medicate use another tank. I have enough stuff laying around anyways and 10 gallon tanks are cheap too if I need to medicate in a separate tank. Regarding the lighting is there any...

    Coral/Fish QT tank

I am going to setup a 10 gallon qt tank for corals and fish that will run 24/7 and had some questions. My first question is regarding the biological filtration and cycling. I have some sponges that have been seeding in my refugium for the last 3 weeks so I am planning on using those in the HOB...

    Advice on an urchin

I wold watch it for sure. In the past I have had the most success with the tuxedo urchins. They will just eat everything including any coralline algae. You will begin to see white spots on your rocks too if they really get at it. After they have done their job I do my best to keep them fed...
