    Large tank recommendations?

I'd cross off all the 18" width tanks. Too hard to get a good feeling of depth in the aquascape. I have a 24" high tank and it's a PIA to get to the bottom. Tanks more than 24" width will be hard to reach the back, especially the back corner with no side access. You need to figure out some...

    Roc's 120 version 2.0 - FOWLR tank

You might try feeding larger chunks of food instead of the chopped up FF. When I had a LF, it liked shrimp. Regular old grocery store raw shrimp! An eel I had loved whole Grunion. Silversides would be a good substitute. IIRC, neither of these fish need to or should be fed every day.

    RO waste water

It's probably easier to replace the part. They are available at any home center in the plumbing department.

    Scarbird's Dream 250

Nice fish even if it does look like a black tang with a grafted yellow tail! :D I'd do at least a couple of courses of Prazi and tank transfer to rule out Ich.

Anybody Ever Have a Coldwater Tank?

A roommate and I had two tanks in college. Plywood tank and cooled by an old Coke frig with a bucket of cold water and a hose coiled up in it. Local San Diego fish. Mostly just a BIG Moray eel. The eel was caught by a fisherman and he didn't want it so we snagged it. Always keep a bucket in...

    What r these

I'll add to the anecdotal reports. I had an acrylic tank with many small Chitons. After a few months the bottom half of the tank looked like frosted glass. Upon inspection with a 10x loupe the 'teeth' marks could be clearly seen. IMO these are a pest. Beware!

How to build a dual stage CO2 regulator for your ca reactor!!!

Yes 700 - 800 is normal pressure. CO2 is actually a liquid in the tank and at room temp produces that much gas for 700psi. If you want to stop gas flow completely shut off the valve on the cylinder. The big green knob is for adjusting outflow pressure.

    B-Ionic Calcium & Alk 2 Part

OK! Now I agree with the calculator. :) I got a similar amount the old fashioned way. Doing the math!!

    B-Ionic Calcium & Alk 2 Part

Back to my paranoia RE: calculators... :D How big is your tank? 1700 ml is lots of Mg!

I misread the first post. That's what I thought the OP was trying to do.

    B-Ionic Calcium & Alk 2 Part

Since you are only going up 100ppm, you could add it all at once. Given my basic distrust of online calculators, I'd do as you suggested. If you test after the first addition and it does go up 20ppm (assuming you do 1/5 each time), I'd feel better about adding the remainder all at once. By...

    B-Ionic Calcium & Alk 2 Part

Assuming the tests are correct, you are using Alk in excess of the dosing. Really good you didn't dose the calculated 297.1 ml! My guess is the calculator is for some other (much less) concentration of Alk. Did the calculator Vincent posted give similar amounts?

    Solar powered reef tank?

First a disclaimer! I am in NO WAY an expert! Label says 120 minutes of reserve at 25A. If you try to run all of your stuff, how many amps do you estimate? Big users are heaters, return pump and lights. I consider the lights the least critical of those three and would eliminate them from the...

    Sick Yellow Tang?

I don't think it's Uronema. Take a look at: http://reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2388437 To me it looks like a physical injury that might have a secondary infection. So hard to guess from a picture. What other fish do you have in the tank? Perhaps another tang gave it a tail slap or...

    B-Ionic Calcium & Alk 2 Part

From the BRS calculator: "Avoid increasing alkalinity levels more than 0.5meq/lt or 1.4 dKH per day, if necessary spread the suggested dose out and test between doses." The calculator for CA and Mg have similar limits per day.
