    Free Uline Styrofoam transport box

Hi All, I know I haven't been active, but wanted to give this styrofoam box out to those who may find it useful... before I toss it out. It's 12x12x13 (I believe). Great for transporting coral or keeping things. It's brand new. I received it free from someone who got out of the coral farming...

    Cutting up my live rock

I'm contemplating cutting up my live rock. Has anyone used a regular hack saw to do it? Looking for the most efficient way to do this. Also, if anyone can offer tips, it would be great. I'm looking to cut up the live rock with the coral on it to separate things out.

http://www.redseafish.com/aquarium-systems/max-aquarium-systems/max-e-series/ Very interesting setup. There is an option to expand to a cabinet-based sump, and has an attachment for chiller expansion also. Has it's own power strip center all neatly laid out with a wire cover.

Just found dinoflagellates, anyone with experience?

I just finished battling green cyano, and realized now I have small patches of dinoflagellates starting to develop. I'm not sure who I got it from, but I have an idea. Bubbles, brown sludge like hairs. They're multiplying fast as hell. Can't keep up with the manual removal. I've read how...

    FREE frogspawn

I got this from the last frag swap, and honestly I just don't have a great place to put these heads. I also have a way too high bio load. Should be two stalks, with multiple heads on each. I'll clean them up a bit before passing them on. Supporting members get priority.

    Anyone use Lanthanum Chloride?

The latest TOTM on Reefcentral mentions using Foz Down, which is lanthanum chloride.. he's using this in place of media like GFO to reduce phosphates. I would love to use something like this instead of constantly changing out and tumbling my GFO... which has always been a pain in the ass to...

    Mag supplements

Hey All, I'm thinking about buying magnesium in bulk. Randy Homles has a guide to what to buy and what to dose. I'm going with Mag Flakes and Epsom salt mix: http://reefkeeping.com/issues/2006-07/rhf/ Ebay has both, and it's relatively cheap to get A LOT. By a lot I mean this...

The Credibility of Thomas Brown of Thomas Vision Reef (youtuber)

I don't know if I'd call him popular, but he has a youtube channel dedicated to reefing and covers various topics. He also covered one of Diabo Valley's events. TL;DR: He made some extraodinary claims about fish food containing astronomical mercury levels, which he still stands by. But a...

Texas State Aquarium kills all fish in tank with pest treatment

"The aquarium said it tried the treatment after struggling to eliminate the parasites, which were described as part of the Trematoda class of parasitic flatworms." Looks like they tried some kind of flatworm treatment. The LA Times has more info on which specific internal flatworm they were...

    DBTC: Reef Raft's Jack-o'-lantern

These take forever to grow. I have a few for sale, and a few for dbtc. They're small, and almost starting to encrust after a month of fragging. I was going to wait until they're fully encrusted, but that may be months from now and I may not be around at that time. General DBTC rules apply...

    DBTC: ShuTin's Red Planet

The original, gigantic colony was lost due to prolonged actinics. It was my pride and joy and I really loved it. I have a few small frags that I was able to scrounge, but this is where I need help to bring this thing back to it's original size: almost 12" long and about 6" tall. I want to give...

    Don't Break the Chain - v1.0b

Welcome! It's long overdue, but I wanted to introduce DBTC v1.0 beta! I say beta because there are a ton of bugs that I've probably missed. If you see anything that you can categorize as a bug, don't be afraid to post it here. That way, we can all check this thread and avoid submitting...
