Temperature Control for a Reef Aquarium

I have used the dual stage Current Prime chillers that are capable of cooling and heating. Also, have used a controller to turn on fans when the tank is a certain temp and turn off lights.

Think we got it from the same place too, Neptune ? :) A lot of the corals came from my 24 pod.

Anthony, Thanks, I will try what you suggested. I really need to read up and experiment with the camera settings. Eileen, Thanks. I always tell myself. "I am not upgrading, I am not upgrading." But it never works. How was your move and the new tank going ?

    Tapmorf's 57

I was surprised that the iPhone was able to take a pic. Anyone have some advice on settings for taking tank pics with a Nikon D90 with standard Nikon 18-105 lens ?

    Tapmorf's 57

Photos come out completely washed out by the light from the fixture using my digital SLR. So I snapped some quick photos with my iPhone.

    Tapmorf's 57

A couple months back I planned a trip to the Bay Area to pickup my 57g Illuminata from Robert at Neptune Aquatics who was nice enough to do everything over the phone. With the new tank in hand, built a stand slightly larger than the footprint of the tank to house the sump plus top off bucket...

    Tapmorf's 24 Pod

I do still have the Iceprobe Chiller and proportional temp controller. I will PM you. I used it for a little bit on my 24 gallon, but I found that it had a hard time keeping the tank cool enough in our office with computers running all day. I think it is probably best on a 12 gallon or smaller...

    Bubble Magus NAC6 Protein Skimmer

Does anyone have experience with this skimmer ? I am a big fan of the Aqua C skimmers and wanted to know how the Bubble would compare to it.

Small update: My yellow assessor decided to jump out last week. Very interesting fish and must be one of my all time favorites. He was the only fish in my tank, must have been spooked. Recently, purchased a solarensis fairy wrasse from Neptune Aquatics for a planned upgrade. Guess you...

    Beer Brewing!

My husband got his start from SF Brewcraft five years ago. I bought him the starter kit that they had, and the brewing class was free.

    Tapmorf's 24 Pod

I have not noticed any black bugs after the treatment. I just replaced the Tunze Nano Skimmer (which I unplugged for about 2 weeks now) with a AquaC Remora Nano. I am a sucker for AquaC skimmers. The skimmer is quite noisy and producing a ton of microbubbles, but according to the makers...

    Mystery Monti

Hey Jeremy, just a little update with the frag I picked up from Aquatic Central last year in July, with your help, it is growing out nicely. Is the frag from AC the same lineage as your DBTC monti. The frag had some nice growth in 7 months, frag plug completely covered and overhnging, it has...
