Calcium build-up

Hi Everyone,

I'm having calcium build-up on the shaft of my pumps.
What can I do to avoid or minimize it?
Now that I have, how do I remove it?

soak/run pumps in vinegar for a little while to remove it (Gresham posted somewhere about pickling vinegar or kimchi vinegar which is stronger ie works faster. To avoid or minimize...I'm not really sure if it's possible. Just monthly or bi monthly maintenance to keep the buildup down.
