DBTC Tracking Help

Attention All DBTC contributers. I'd like to encourage everyone to summarize the DBTC recipients when ever possible. Here is an example from Eric. http://www.bareefers.org/discussion/index.php?topic=3026.msg33561#msg33561

It not only helps me track the transactions it also helps the 10 other people asking for more frags once they are spoken for :) (that way the requester doesn't have false hopes). Even more important than that, please make sure that every coral that is distributed is logged here http://www.bareefers.org/discussion/index.php?topic=2136.0
Since it's up to the contributer to pick who gets what no feelings should get hurt so don't withhold the information for that reason, but it would be nice if you disclosed first come first served or not in your initial post jic.

Thanks everyone who has been contributing to the program, I know (along with everyone else I'm sure) you could just as easily sell these corals (or hoard them for your own ;D ) and your generosity is appreciated.

I would like to volunteer for the task of organizing the list. i was thinking about this all day yesterday and how i could do it. Especially after these last 2 days where corals have been given so liberally. i don't want any of these top shelf corals slipping through the cracks.

I figure if everyone who started a chain lets me know what coral they are giving and to whom they are giving to or have already given to. and those who have received corals let me know how they are doing, if they have given out a second generation ect. even letting us know if the coral has died (we all do that from time to time)

I was thinking about making it some kind of word doc that could be stickied to the top then downloaded so every one could see who has what, who has given what, and who has received what. I would appreciate some incite as i think this is a good start but would like feed back on what other people feel on it and/or how it could be made better. the last thing i want to do is make a chrt that shows so and so always takes, never gives. or so and so always kills frags so lets not give to him. but i want it to be a quick easy way for us to track lineage and distribution of this wonderful program.

A genealogy software would be nice to use for DBTC tracking. You can even attach picture too. I haven't use this yet but I was thinking of this for a while.

Glad to see I'm not the only one thinking about this. So far I have a spread sheet of everything that has been given out but not all of it has been validated. As a side note, I also have a list of about 2 dozen chains that no one took folks up on :) Anyway, I feel like I'm bugging folks to get accurate information which is not what should be happening and the long term plan is to have folks enter the data into the site and store it in a database. Your approach may be a good way to handle it but it would be nice if we had a system account for DBTC for people to PM rather than your personal one so we can share the load. The DBCT committee should be meeting soon so we can discuss this but I think it's a good temp option.

wow i was going to just start up dry. i had no idea somebody was keeping track. the genealogy software looks promising, there is some potential there.

Guys,

Thanks for all the offers of support and ideas. Levi, Zepplock, Elite, and I have been working on the DBTC tracking committee to put together a more robust way to track our propagation and program expansion. Levi has been spearheading the data aggregation side of the operation and I think we made his job much harder this week! ;)

LordHelmet, if you are willing to give us a hand, It would be great for you to help Levi in tracking down the ongoing and historic trades. I think it has recently become to big a job for one person. ;D Drop him a line and divy up the onslaught together?

As for how we will present the data... there has been some previous discussion about geneology software...

But we have a number of additional requirements. You can find it all in our subcommittee thread here...

Xinumaster, I know you have some technical skills (though I'm not certain of your specialities). If you want to give us a hand, Zepplock is heading up the development side.

Suggestion.

This is the format I used (stolen from Levi so it looked fine by me LOL) in the transaction thread.

Coral_Name Frag_Originator Frag_Distributor Frag_Receiver Transaction_Date Thread_URL

It would make life easier if the OP posted this so that it is easy to transfer and update the transactions.

For example, Sulcata would have the following in either his initial post, or at the finalization, something like

The following people are getting a frag:
1. Gomer
2. Levi
3. Ugly

Please update the Transaction Sticky with
Green Birds Nest sulcata1619 sulcata1619 INSERT_YOUR_NAME_HERE 2/9/2008 http://www.bareefers.org/discussion/index.php?topic=2807.0

Most of the time the giver posts what they gave but I'm ok as long as it makes it there. That format is what worked for me since I'm tracking the URL's (and sometimes the dates have / too) but as long as it get's there. Thanks!
