Hello! I'm a newbie to reefing, although I do have some freshwater aquarium experience. I'm in Oakland so I thought I would join the club.

My saltwater tank is 14 gallons, and I originally started because I wanted to get a pistol shrimp/goby pair, but I'm starting to love the corals now. I'm only about three months into it so far, and I have a lot to learn.

Welcome to BAR @BlueSallymandr ! I'm a newbie too. There is a lot of wisdom that can be found in the countless pages here. Find some time and use that search function! It will be your friend. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I would bet money that someone here knows the answer or knows someone that knows the answer!

With such a small aquarium, water chemistry can change very rapidly
Water changes are your best friend
5gal/week will do you and your good!

So I started with the fluval, and I have kept this advice from the start. I do 3gal/week and that little tank has been running so smooth! I'm thankful that's its been more fun than stressful up to this point.
