High Tide Aquatics

need new skimmer for new sump

Building a sump slash refugium want to keep it to a 12*12 footprint..

Can fit a sump equivalent to a 30 breeder in there n want space for a 18*12 refugium.

12"x12"x18" is pretty limited space. You're probably going to need 22 - 26" for height.

Just some examples:

will handle your tank but look at the dims for it: 15.7" * 12.2" * 22.6 "

9.0" * 10.6" * 20.4"

24" in height with a 11 3/4" X 16 1/2" footprint

21" in height with a 14" X 9" footprint.

How about the super reef octopus xp-2000 space saver. Its about 23 inches tall but it has a 8x10 footprint.

Link I found on it with some info. I'm sure any of our sponsors could get you this skimmer though.

Sadly Euro-Reef is no longer, plus their skimmers for larger tanks are a little tall. I had them custom build one for a 320 a few years ago, it needed to be short to fit the stand, it was super, super expensive $500+ due to the acrylic diameter (12")

Jeremy the ER skimmer (8-3) you have used to retail for more then $500, you sure that 12" wasn't closer to a grand?

I think I might go with Skimmer Ian posted......

Yea, I think this is your best option with the footprint you suggested. That pump is also better than the Sicce pumps that other Reef Octopus's use. Karson/Joe at Aquatic Collection sells Reef Octopus and they can probably get these in for a good deal. :)

I looked today when I was servicing the tank, it was a little over $900, I didn't pay for it so that's why my brain farted, I did pay $50 for my skimmer though :D

I just watched a video that had the guy from Euro Reef. The new company is Reef Dynamics they look the same even the logo.
The video was on Lafishguys. It was actually an interesting video about the design of protien skimmers.

Yeah Jeff started up a new company but it's just a shell of what it was IMO. He lost his economy of scale when he ditched the ER name.

I bet he was smoking a cigar at some point?
