My new BioCube 29 HQI came with an Oceanic BioCube skimmer which doesn't work very well. I have two questions.
First, what kind of skimmer would you recommend I buy to replace the BioCube skimmer? It needs to fit in a 3" x 4" space with a heater, so keep size in mind. I want something that is small and does a great job.
Secondly, will putting the BioCube skimmer in my new tank for a few months until I get a new skimmer help at all? If it's not going to do anything then I might as well leave it brand new in the box and sell it on eBay.

I saw pictures of it and it looks a little big. What are the dimensions on it?

I also found THIS and it looks awesome. It's cheap, it has good reviews, and I saw a picture of the collection cup filled with lots of skimmate. I think I might be getting this skimmer.
 
I have a BC29 and went skimmer less. The main reason was noise from CPR SR3 and constrain on size limits you to very few choices.
I just use heater on 1st and chaeto on 2nd with a custom basket for mechanical filtration.
But I only have a pair of clowns too.
