Been fighting diatoms so I just checked my lfs rodi water that I have been using
used a tds-3meter shows 18 ppm tds?
maybe that’s my problem?

Are you using a handheld tds meter or an inline one? In line meters need to be used in line or they will not read properly

Are you testing the RODI container? Or straight out of the filter?

Once it is in the container, it will usually see an increase in TDS. Test the water straight out of the filter. Using an inline TDS meter helps with that tremendously.

Do these buckets ever have saltwater in them?

Which LFS ? They may be able to verify what they’re reading? Or another member may get rodi there and can confirm

I don’t think they have had salt water in them
As far lfs identity I want to hold off till I am sure what’s going on

This came up before and is the exact reason I now make my own water. Once you have the testing capacity and take that to store bought water you realize what you are paying for isn’t exactly as advertised since coming from a life in retail things definitely do get missed from time to time and at an LFS this means media changes and rigorous testing which can lead to water that isn’t up to spec for a reef.
