Coming today and research on Youtube suggests running it for 24 hours in a water/vinegar solution and then in an RO solution to break it in more quickly. Vertex suggests running it in the sump overnight and letting the cup uncovered and overflowing. The youtube research says it takes up to two weeks to get it broken in

Any thoughts?

I run all new skimmers for 24 hours in a bucket with RO and vinegar. This helps clear out any oils from manufacturing before they get in the tank. After that it depends on the individual skimmer (not model.) I've put some in the sump and they work from the get-go and others need to break in.
