Lot of good stuff here y'all. Nikon has their own software like canon does in fact I think pretty much every camera that shoots raw has access to some software for it since raw is a proprietary format specific to each brand and sometimes model. I think a combo workshop with lessons on dslr and phones would be the most beneficial as not everyone has dslr's or fancy glass but pretty much everyone has a cell phone with a camera and really with a little practice and ingenuity modern smart phones can rival entry to mid dslr's now.
All done on the iPhone 6s Plus with an old rosco gel and minimal editing on all but the first.

+1 on the DIY food workshop. That was fun.

I would suggest working to get more new and/or beginner members.
We had something like "Free easy corals for new members" which I think went well.
I bet there is a lot of old equipment floating around we could sell-cheap to new members.
Have a specific meeting to welcome new members.
      Something along those lines.

      I definitely enjoy speakers.
Really consider including a few "Marine Biologist" types instead of "Aquarist" types though.
For me, I have heard a lot of how-to-setup-a-tank talks, so learning about the
sex lives of Nudibranches is more interesting.

We have Tank of the Month. Perhaps more categories. It encourages more pictures and build threads.
Perhaps "Nano", "Large", "Softies", and fun ones like "Noob" and "Most Algae."

Yeah my plan for this was to get a bunch of ideas. That way future and current BOD will have something to use for setting up events.

One option: Steve Haddock (some fun things on bioluminescence in deep sea)
Another: Stephen Palumbi (Had and interesting Ted Talk)

But what I would really suggest is to go to sites like this:
And see who has some interesting videos, and who is local.

I will poke around more if I have some time.
