Who has non-photosynth gorgonians?

how would you deal with the nutrients needed to grow it and how they effect the corals? The f2 media is not weak-sauce when it comes to messing up closed ecosytems that can't handle metals and such ;)

Ok 500 gallon tank just to grow phyto... 50 gallon tank for the microplankton and a 5 gallon tank with 1 gorgonian in it

Rule of 10 for the food chain :D

phytoplanklton=microplankton

I think you were reaching for zooplankton they eat phytoplankton.

Under microplankton you have bacterioplankton.

She missed the boat a little on that loop as those flagellated microplankton are considered by many phycologist to be phytoplanklton.

Its not the water volume for the phyto, its the F2 nutrients it takes to grow phytoplankton at the proper nutritional levels. There are well designed F2 media packs for various phytoplanktons. If you read what was in them you would NOT want that media in your tank, or in any way connected to your tank. You tank on its own will not have the proper nutrients to grow acceptable phyto for feeding to you corals.
