Should I Remove Foam from Skimmer Base?

Old school skimmer - has pretty solid foam fully adhered to base. Will be sitting IN lowboy frag tank.
Do you think chemicals will leach into water or can we leave the nice dampening base on?

Back in the day. People would add foam or rubber on the bottom of equipment to quite vibration from ac pumps. Looks like that one you have, someone glued it on. So either way you go would probably be fine.

That’s a down draft skimmer it can be used externally
True, but paranoid of flooding classroom . If it volcanoes over weekend, just goes into tank and also doesn't make ATO go wild.
Although pump will be external. Wanted skimmerless, but know we would fight algae nonstop. If it is too noisy I might just run it after hours.
Hmm. Forgot about topoff reservoir/placement. Keep reminding myself this is about access and not in a living room, so it will work out.
