As a counterpoint to the above, I had low pH issues (7.9-8.1) on my 200 gallon DT and installed a BRS CO2 scrubber, and it's bumped my pH to 8.1-8.3. I have a fairly large skimmer though (Regal INT-150SSS) and I change the media once every 1-1.5 weeks though.

I keep a bunch of torches. So, pretty much any (or all) of them. But then they'll sometimes just decide to be pissy for no reason, so there's a lot of false alarms.
