    Another rant on testing

Depends on your success horizon in my opinion.

    Another rant on testing

Haha, love to mix up the German and English spelling, sorry. Impact of high Iodine is greater if your F is low so this is not too bad but needs to come down soon. Should not exceed 150 ug/l. Agree with their recommendation on strontium and Iodine, which are pretty much NSW values. Easy to...

    Another rant on testing

@L/B Block - What’s your flouride? And how high is your Strontium?

Show off what you got from CFM!!

Bought three corals at the CFM, but I do not get a good shot of the red millepora from Kay, so I can only show two of them. Well, and that torch was yellow there. That's what you get when you are trying to save a few bucks.

    65 gallon tank

I do not believe the dinos will come only from a few days of not having a sufficient phosphate reading since you are testing your water regularly/weekly (?). But you should definitely get a reading ASAP to minimize the risk. I know you are not testing Nitrate, but I assume these are also...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

I am currently limiting the amount of testing that is non value adding and focus on the key tests and perform them weekly except Alkalinity, which I test twice a week, and MG, which I test every three weeks or less. I do test Nitrate weekly as I consider this a core test. You can just observe...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

The goal is to keep it between 10 and 20 with increased feeding. I have also been adding more corals recently and will continue to add more to help with the export. Regarding the balance ratio, yes, I do target the 90-110 ratio between the two (not Redfield). This is a bit tricky though since...

    Alex’s IM 150 EXT

Valid question. Probably because I love a good challenge :). Seriously, though, I have been reading more German literature recently (Brockmann, others), which seems to have more up-to-date books. None of them recommend going above 10 for SPS with a 10-20 acceptable range, except for FOWLR...

Received my monthly (every 5 weeks) Reef ICP Total ICP results from Fauna Marin today and will start posting here as I have by now a good handle on how to address this. It took 6 days to get the results (sent Thursday morning, received Wednesday morning), which is very good, and still hopeful...

    Judge my equipment choices

Nothing new only to echo the recommendations on the heater - do not try to be cheap on the heater(s). The Eheim seems great, but I would only use titanium heaters in my tank(s), with a separate controller. I use the Aqualogic controller even on my nano tank, but I am also using a dual...

I have several of these and the largest probably being half the size of what you have and I feel mine is already massive. I love how they look and they are fantastic to cycle a new tank.

    Sad Filefish

Red dots on torch stem - acceptable?

Likewise Andy! Three dips - Hydrogen Peroxide - Polyplab - Fauna Marin, and scraped off the red dots. Squeaky clean and looks very unhappy now… Update: Actually just started opening up and looks very happy now (with lights out!).

Red dots on torch stem - acceptable?

Makes sense - will need to invite @ReyDeFarts to give me training on how to take decent pictures with an iphone.

Red dots on torch stem - acceptable?

Red dots on torch stem - acceptable?

Got this from the CFM today. What are these red things on it? Concerning or just sponges?
