Thanks for the help everyone. The answer to this one was the venturi was not being pushed all the way into the skimmer body. It was a good exercise in taking everything apart and cleaning it though.

I like having both ladders. I do not hear the parrotfish. Likely both because it is mostly eating pellets, and because there is a decent hum from the big pumps and water flowing in the 5 tanks.

Did my first water change today, a wet skim is always my favorite. Since I hadn't been running the skimmer since the start, there was plenty to wet skim out. I've done about 40 gallons today.

Edit: Saw this is a 20 minute move. Totally different from what I did, way easier. One bubbler for a big container to hold stuff on each end and send it.

It is possible there is a leak in the tube, I'll check this week. Soaking the venturi in hot citric acid this morning, we'll see if that helps.

I took apart the skimmer and pump today. Motor shaft is connected to needle wheel; wheel stalls when I put my finger on it and spins when on. I cleaned the needle wheel, it had some small snail shells in the needles. Blowing air through the tube makes the skimmer froth when it is on. I can try...

Weird, because I just got one shipped a couple months ago.

Flushed fresh water through the tube and plastic piece at entrance to skimmer body. Water flushes cleanly through it. When I blow air through the tube, froth is created, but then stops.

Hey Bar, I shut down my Reef Octopus 250ss skimmer and it dried out for a couple months. I then started it back up with a new power supply and controller (because I fried my old one) and the pump spins up great, but no bubbles are created. I bet something important is clogged and needs an RO...

But I (used to) do both hobbies, that is why it is relevant. In any metric that compares this hobby to corporate waste production makes what this hobby produces insignificant.
