Using normal liquid super glue with baking soda

The baking soda and liquid glue sets up very fast. Gel is fine, but it takes a while for the gel to cure. Nothing is "wrong" with gel, just exploring some alternatives (which is still CA glue).

Using normal liquid super glue with baking soda

I stumbled onto some youtube video of a guy doing stuff with baking soda and super glue. So I looked it up and apparently baking soda helps super glue cure much faster than just water, and also creates a cement like mass. So I was wondering if, instead of super glue gel, it might be effective to...

Are CO2 Calcium Reactors out of favor nowadays?

Thanks for the discussion guys, I think I'll dust off the gear and see what condition it's in. Mostly the regulator. The reactor itself I think is fine. V

Are CO2 Calcium Reactors out of favor nowadays?

it seems to me every uses 2 or 3 part dosing and drip dosers. Why are CO2 reactors no longer popular? I remember the best coral growth I had was my old 58g tank running a CO2 reactor. I was just too lazy to move it to my Wifebane 180. I think now the regulator is too corroded to use due to the...

    Getting BTA off a rock?

If I have too many and there is a frag swap on the way, I've taken the rock out and used a cold chisel to tap away at the rock under the nem. Often the rock chips off and the foot is still on the rock bits and sometimes you can grab the rock chips and slowly peel/encourage the nem off the rock...

What do you do after a water change?

I imagine that any distiller would work with any water at all. Basically a large bucket with an oversized domed lid that collects condensate at the edges of the lid? (I'm thinking of how an oversize pot lid over a pot of boiling water drips along the edges of the oversized lid onto the oven. I...

What is your heater setup? I think mine is inefficient.

I have a "single stage" Ranco Controller, I've been meaning to install. Can I attach two heaters to it (for redundancy). What's the difference between one and two stages? I bought the controller years ago, planning to deal with this issue, but like everything, never got around to actually doing...

What is your heater setup? I think mine is inefficient.

To heat my 180, I have three heaters, one in the sump and two in the main tank. I'm starting to think it's highly inefficient and maybe just one in the main tank should suffice. I'm not using a smart controller, but I have been planning to do so and have the parts for a PID. How are you guys...

    Other hobbies

Well, thanks to Apon (Arnold), I'm into archery now with my kids! Also yesterday I went to Sunnyvale Rod and Gun to do some "Cowboy action shooting" which was really fun. No stress like a regular pistol competition (which I do on occassion, but not lately), just a bunch of guys talking about...

    Best wet/dry shop vac

I have a buckethead and the cheapest home depot one in my workshop. Buckethead is very convenient as it uses your buckets which I know everyone has a bunch of. It's small and you just detach the head form the bucket and carry the bucket and dump the water. A larger wet/dry is much more...

Purple up (or other similar products) or any suggestions for cranking up the coralline algae

My old tank grew so much corraline that it created shelves of corraline. My current tank has nothing. Aside from other things the old tank had a calcium reactor running on it. Current tank had no calcium supplement except kale top off.

Lighting periods and Time Of Use electrical metering

I run my lights usually from 12 noon to about 1AM. This was because my old electrical metering sort of made sense then. However, I switched many years ago tot he PG&E EV-A plan for electric car charging that moves cheap power to the mornings. The EVA rates are 12AM-3PM = 24 cents/kw 3-4PM = 45...
