    Reuse from tank with dinos

Sand is cheap. Get new sand. If your dinos are under control, I would probably just use the rock. Since it's the kind that goes waterborne in dark, maybe do a few tank transfers during dark hours to reduce their quantity? I don't know if that would actually help, but maybe.

    Pest ID?

At one point I found these on sps as well, and thought they were an issue. I later discovered there was actually white/gray bugs which we're eating polyps. Not a lot of info out there on ostracods that I could find though, so possible they were bugging corals too.

    Pest ID?

+1 for ostracod. I don't believe these are generally considered bad.

Guess I haven't updated this in a while. Primary tank inhabitants are in their new home!

    PIF: 5" Blue Hippo Tang

With great sadness, I have realized it is time to re-home this fish. This is one of the very first fish I got, as a innocently uneducated new reefer in ~2010. I have known this fish longer than I have known my wife! Affectionately known around my house as "big blue" this fish unfortunately...

    Meshmez's IM EXT 112

The auto feeder discussion inspired me to finally start my diy project. I'll likely add some sort of funnel to the top, and a little angle to the bottom. I'll also add a small pump to mix the water in the tube. Haven't decided yet if I want to integrate the pump in the bottom part, or drill a...

New Instant Ocean Reef Crystals bucket has low magnesium

Did you mix the salt bucket? Try rolling the bucket around, flipping end to end, etc to make sure the salt is not settled and separated out.

The sump is nice, especially for the price. I liked that it came with probe holders and heater holders etc, but I'm not actually using them...

    Meshmez's IM EXT 112

Finally got the Dastaco CaRx that I have had for a long time and never set up, running. Added a biota yellow tang and starry goby, along with moving my Kole tang and melanarus wrasse over from the tank I have been keeping them in in the garage. And moved some more corals in.

    Any automatic feeder recommendations?

I don't have one, but I believe this is true. The point is the food will not be on the surface, so you shouldn't have it all go down the drain.

    Any automatic feeder recommendations?

I think so. I just got it a week or so ago, and just did a little experimentation with it. I want it to be able to do fairly soft/small stuff like freeze dried calanus and potentially even reef roids. It definitely seems like there is enough room that things like that will tend to get smashed...

    Any automatic feeder recommendations?

Interesting. I just got that eheim feeder (I could be wrong, but I think when most people talk about the eheim feeder they are talking about spinning drum version) Im considering using it as just a housing and wiring directly to the motors to bypass the programming/battery. Replacement augers...
