I believe it is only an issue with some salts. Red Sea Pro black bucket I believe calls out not to store more than several hours. I have zero knowledge of salts with carbon dosing packaged in.

Good to hear! You must have glued the internal overflow plumbing inside the overflow box. I just go with press fit, figuring it can't leak. I do glue the external box plumbing though for sure.

I think so. This is how IM tank's BA drains are setup, no elbow. IM does not use an elbow on the secondary either.
