Brian's IM EXT 50 Gallon Lagoon Aquarium Complete Reef

I am not sure I can boost your confidence in mp10s but I will say I have had several and liked them well enough that I purchased the larger MP40 when I needed more flow. They are expensive and nice pumps that do not require a cord in the water. Its all about your flow and aesthetic goals. It...

    Cycling Coral First

Slow is smooth and smooth is fast. If I had Jake's (RIP) skills and flats and flats of corals waiting to be put in displays, I would give it a shot. I do not. If I were newish to the hobby and had to purchase the corals on day one to make this happen, I probably would not. Look into over the...

    Patio's IM 75 EXT

I did some digging and found pictures of the handwritten names that came on the bags from the shipment 11/25/20. Only this one survived the tank move a couple years back. Here is what came in from Battle Corals: Miss Scarlett Rainbow Loom Vectorman Bonfire Strawberry Fields

    Patio's IM 75 EXT

Got this from battle corals a few years ago but have long since forgotten what the heck it is or what its was supposed to look like. The thing tried dying several times but would dull out and go dormant instead. Last couple of days the colors has been perking up and some peach color at the...

    Black algae/ sponge???

I have had this odd black stuff with valves for several years. Seems to grow in indirect light or low light and does not seem to really bother my corals, yet anyway. I can't tell from the OP picture if it is the same though?

Bruce's "Never Again" Build. (Walnut Creek)

Interested to hear and see more about the mud along your journey. Have you used it in past tanks? Are you hoping to use it in lieu of dosing traces or maybe other goals for it?

SF-based testing or debugging LPS + Euphyllia decline?

Check the tank to see if anything has fallen in (3 kids under 4) and if pumps or magnets have exposed metals.

    Dinoflagellates vs. UV

Are you going to try UV? I have used the "green killing machine" uv sterilizers to help in the past. Never leaving in the water more than 90 days- is a rule I made up for myself. The internals seem to be made without saltwater in mind so I treated it like a disposable solution. Its a great...

Where's my alk going in my mixing station?

Red Sea Coral Pro instructions mention the salt should not be mixed for more than 4 hours. I think this is why reefers who store large quantities of salt use other salts.

    Tank Overflowing

Maybe see if you can push a straightened paperclip - or something narrow and rigid - down the black plastic tube hole to see if anything is blocking.

I do the live flesh off the plug as you mention but have never QT'd or dipped. I buy a new bottle of Revive every 5 years but it just sits on the shelf expiring away. I should break that habit :). I might hit you up for your dip protocol before grabbing some new sticks.

    algae on walls

I think the same thing but wonder the quantity of up'd PAR levels and distribution. Then i ask myself, does that quantity dip off quickly as algae film increases hour after hour day after day.
