    July 16 Bonus coral list.

Some corals are deemed a little more desirable than others as a result we'd like to get as many of them spread out through the club, and we do this via the "bonus round". The way this works is that 3 bonus corals = 1 bonus ticket, and 1 ultra coral = 1 bonus ticket. Prior to the start of...

    Getting rid of aiptasia

The problem with aiptasia treatment is it's much like mice in the home, if you see a mouse, chances are there are a few (or) more that you don't see. There are plenty of chemical methods that do work... but only where you apply them, you may be missing the bunch on the backside of a rock that...

    Acrylic 44x36x12 frag tank

"couple bucks of gas" doesn't go as far as it used to anymore!

PSA: Check you magnetic equipment and accessories often!!

You'd think with how good acrylic welding techniques are they'd be able to make a water tight vessel for these things. Or heck maybe go the extra mile and fill the container with epoxy then weld it tightly shut.

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

Yeah that's a tough one, before all this stuff went down my parents told me F-all about any of their health issues except when it was so critical that they were hospitalized and I was notified out of courtesy of "hey Mike I need you to do all this stuff now!" If she is receptive I would try...

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

@BAYMAC First I would say if possible, get involved with her primary care doctor and push to get some level of memory diagnosis done. Kaiser for all their faults of largely being pill pushers actually have a pretty decent memory clinic where they do routinely test him (and yeah those tests have...

June is Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month

My father has dementia, I don't know if it's really bad or not as I have no point of reference with others I suppose even a mild case is "really bad" if you've never dealt with it. It's one of those things that when we finally pegged it we realized all the signs that were staring us in the...

Just found sand in the seal of my RSR250...

While I agree with would be great, if it's a self reported statistic then it really becomes something everyone would take with a grain a salt, since there most likely would be punishment if they purposefully under reported, and more importantly no way to verify if they are in fact under reporting.

Just found sand in the seal of my RSR250...

Silicone is naturally going to fail, it's essentially an adhesive that is trying to stick to what is basically a very smooth surface even at the molecular level. Now while that stuff can stick any additional stresses just make it less and less likely to stick well, things like no bracing...

    Red Sea Wavemakers

Completely forgot about these, I was going to say "man I have a red sea wavemaker..." but the old school one that is nothing more than a relayed switched plug to turn an AC pump (or two) on and off ... damn I got too much junk that no one wants.

Just found sand in the seal of my RSR250...

Well that's nice they're willing to sell you a "significantly discounted rate" whatever price that may be. When I asked Marineland (or whomever the parent company was) about my failed DD tank, they were like "ok send us pictures, and this and that" and I was like "ok, is this good enough" and...

Interesting video about failing Radion G5 lights....

While I won't say that it's "easy" by any stretch, it definitely is a skill that one can learn to be good at with enough practice. I would say the hardest part is when you have a metal board used as a "pre-heatsink" which I think a lot of LED lights have, it can pull away heat real easily...

PSA it’s that time of year again…

Interesting video about failing Radion G5 lights....

Oh damn a Russian(??) version of Louis Rossmann. Interesting that the fix was easy enough to do, however Ecotech's solution just buy a new one, or maybe they'll be nice enough to repair by replacing the whole board ala Apple Genius repair service.

Just found sand in the seal of my RSR250...

So was this a new tank? i.e. you were the only owner? I presume any warranty is long past over. But yeah shit like that is making me happy I haven't dove back into the hobby or worse... decided to go for acrylic :D

    Other hobbies

My wife has offered to get me a smoker for my birthday ... I dunno how many times since we've been married. My response to her has always been "I need to lose weight, not have new ways to make pounds of food".... but yeah that does look quite tasty.

    Best wet/dry shop vac

What ^^^ he said, you can get yourself the best shop vac possible... but why spend that kind of money putting it into a condition which they are not in any way meant for (regardless of the "wet" description they often have)

Says something about the cost of these though, slab of aluminum and the drivers/power supply more than doubles the price?
