Okay, its been close to 10 days reporting the LPS melting episode and I'm going to conclude that the INTERCEPTOR TREATMENT WORKED :) All the infected ones that were receding stopped right after the treatment, I can see flesh growing back on a few pieces and no new coral showed signs of stress or...

My ATO is plugged in. Right now everything is running via the EB8 other an LEDs (it has its own controller) and the Jebao dosing pump that i'll be plugging in soon. Apex is doing a great job keeping my sump water level in check. JBJ ATO is packed and sitting as a backup. Might sell it...

Just found dinoflagellates, anyone with experience?

Haha... thats not what I meant. When you do water changes, you replenish trace elements (iron included) that I heard could promote Dino growth. Also DinoX treatment requires you not to change water in the treatment period (25 days). So when you don't change water (either for treatment or to...

Just found dinoflagellates, anyone with experience?

People say the trace elements that are replenished with PWCs promote dino growth (I think Iron mostly). Also in case of DinoX treatment, the chemical is supposed to stay in the system till end of treatment, so now PWCs there too. So its not about rising nitrates but avoiding PWCs that end up...

Do some reading on the right H2O2 dosing. I guess it was 1ml per 10gal (dose after lights off). Good luck Alfred!

Lol, I was about to reply... yeah! I'm probably one of those rare guys why was successful battling dino ;) If its sure dino, I can feel ur pain! H2O2 helped by stopping them from spreading faster but didn't really eradicate A mascara brush, siphon tube & small filter sock was my best friend I...

I wish I had the space for 2 return pumps. I had to remove the intake guard on the DC-9000 to fit it in my return chamber, I'm hoping with the DCT 4000 or 6000 that it fits with the guard, will find out soon...

They look very mechanical. Have you tried them? Also the intake/outflow holes are so tiny, looks a bit bigger than airline tubing?

That is a very good question ;) It started with bacterial build-up gushing out of the return line every time I turned on/off my return... but over time I started catching sponges, dirt and pieces of macro so I figured its good to keep it. I have 2 such media bags & everytime I do a water change...

@wpeterson, good points... problem is I can go higher GPH else water will squirt out in all directions via the media bag I have over the return loc-line. Thinking back with the RIO 642gph, it might only have been pushing at 450gph so even if I were to match it with the DCT-4000, I'd still only...

For the new return pump, i'm debating between the Jebao DCT-4000 vs DCT 6000. Previous RIO = 642gph DCT-4000 = 1056gph (this probably is already a big upgrade to what I had) DCT-6000 = 1585gph (might never exceed 60% if I get this) DC-9000 (loaner) = 2377gph (currently running at 20% @ 792gph)...

    No Skimate coming from Skimmer

Kinda similar thing happened to me. I used to get very good gunk for several months and one day skimmer decided to not skim, although there was good foaming.... Vinegar bathed, tried other adjustments but the only thing that fixed it for me was rising it 2"!

    Suction Pump

I'm looking for a pump that I can use externally to siphon water out of my sump... The sump sits 2" above ground level but manual siphon takes ages and is so slow that it doesn't suck detritus! I saw Roberto (@newhobby) using a tiny ebay pump and connected it to one end of a PVC that he uses...

Just a few hours ago my return pump gave up! I took it apart, scrubbed it well but looks like its needs a kickstart to start spinning (similar to the issue I had in my skimmer pump, and I ended up replacing the impeller). I was so freaking out cos the fuge, heating, ATS, skimming, GFO, GAC are...
