    Aptasia irradication strategies

When i first got my live rock for my 180 i cycled them 50lbs at a time in a large rubbermade tub. One for the 50 lb boxes came with rock riddled w/ aiptasia (crazy considering this was rock sitting in no water with just wet newspaper sitting over it) flakes I threw all aiptasia covered...

Has anyone seen the Reef Brite Pro MH Pendants w/LED lights?

I read somewhere that the strips produce more PAR than a 24'' T5. Ive been looking for these myself and can only find it @ aquarium specialty. I e-mailed them last night and they said it would take 2 weeks to order. FWIW i plan on using the LED strips for a "sun up sun down" effect since im...

    Metronida... something...

Flagyl is the brand name for metronidazole. you'd have better luck checking LFS to see if they carry it for aquatic use than to use a rX made for human consumption.

    Difference in ballast...

the lumateks seem promising but i kinda want to see it in person w/ a radium. How do you like your galaxy? they seem good from what ive read, but seem to have problems around the 2 year mark. i've seen the older icecap ballast + radium in person next to an M80 ballast and preffered the...

    Difference in ballast...

Would the new ones be suitable for a 250w radium? Im ready to make the the jump to 20k and have been looking @ the galaxy ballast. If an icecap can do the same, i'd rather go that route.

    Difference in ballast...

they are all e-ballast. i read in a radium post (RC) that lumatek and galaxy ballast will make adjustments to wattage drawn according to the bulb , where as an icecap wont which is why radiums give more of a blue hue on an icecap.

Your opinion on a new internal waterpump?

I was in the same situation not long ago and ended up getting the quiet one 4000. No complaints on it so far. I switch it on and off manually pretty often (weekly water changes) and starts up fine every time. My skimmers pumps are louder so i never hear it. All Eheims ive owned work great...

    Phosphate question...

a couple years ago there was an OTC laxative (fleet phospho soda) comprised of NaPO4 and Na2PO4 used for bowel prep in surgical procedures and colonoscopys. It was pulled from the market by the FDA due to it being linked to the cause of acute renal neuropathy. Irriversable damage to the kidneys...

    Phosphate question...

Where is that cited? Phosphate is needed for bone development but at imbalanced levels can cause hypocalcemia, robbing the body of its calcium via bone resorption. Its often seen in patients with kidney disease hence the reason why we have drugs like renagel, renvela, phoslo, and fosrenol...
