    Tool to pluck hair algae?

I recently put in some trochus. Suppose there is no harm in picking up yet more snails. At least snail poop exports easier! :) I've also got some chaeto and a 24/7 PAR38 clip light mounted over the refugium now, so hopefully that'll start competing out the HA.

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

I'm using the yellow atlast gloves from Amazon actually. Same problem with the hole. Haha. I'll see if I can use some vulcanizing electrical tape or something to cover it. My current pair has the problem that I get water in them and I CANT dry them out well, so they end up mildewing. I'm...

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

Lol, I have a feeling I'd end up with no rock!

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

Okay, maybe I'll have to make a smaller version of something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Milliard-Corner-Vacuum-Cleaning-Corners/dp/B00IT2W19Y/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1490026332&sr=8-1-spons&keywords=algae+vacuum&psc=1

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

Suppose it should be possible to rig something up. The toothbrush and siphon house could work. I'll have to think about a DIY approach. :) I DO have to order another pair of the shoulder length gloves. I have one now but they developed a leak.

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

Hhmm. Yeah probably not a good long-term solution in a little ol 90g. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

I had a hard time identifying how the cleaning action works from the YouTube vids I watched. Is it just a vibrating rod that cleans the rocks and then the vacuum just sucks up the algae? Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

Haha maybe my nose hair trimmer? I have dreamed of a little power scrub brush with a suction hose to pull away what you clean. Too bad it doesn't exist. Sent from my Pixel XL using Tapatalk

    Tool to pluck hair algae?

I'm in the midst of a big new tank hair algae bloom. I want to pluck the growth often, and that means not relying on putting my arm in. I've tried metal tongs but they don't grip well enough to pull the hair algae. Anyone know of a decent tool I could use without sticking my arm in the...

Good thought I tried to see where I could get this on the forum but couldn't find it.

[Mar 11, 2017] 2017 supporting members frag swap (Hayward, ca)

Hey if someone could bring me a clump of chaeto I'd be super appreciative. Trying to build up down diversity and also trying to suck up some of the nutrients feeding my new tank bloom! Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Thanks! I really need to put more effort into tracking what is in my tank!

    TGunn's 90g Reef

Anyone know the official name for this coral? I'm going to bring some frags to the swap. When I moved from my 37g to the 90g it broke up and I've got a few chunks I can swap finally.

    TGunn's 90g Reef

As is always the case with a newer tank I'm going through a massive hair algae outbreak at the moment. Ugh. It also looks like one of the new fish I added carried an illness of some kind. Both of my clowns and the royal gramma are now food for the crabs. Its strange as there was ZERO sign of...

[Mar 11, 2017] 2017 supporting members frag swap (Hayward, ca)

My tank is going through the good 'ol "hair algae" phase of a new tank, but I think I'd still like to actually participate this time around now that I have the room. What's the suggested criteria for buying frags to use in the swap? I'll likely stop by Neptune on the weekend and pick some up...

Need Input from all members for 2017

My 2017 seems to be starting off a lot calmer than 2016 (not planning on a new house this year, and hopefully we've gotten the major surgeries out of our system). An event that happened a couple years ago that I really enjoyed was when we had the fish food making event. I know, I know, I'm a...

Volunteers needed for march 11 swap

I'll be there for setup and breakdown. I usually end up sitting at the registration desk and checking people in, so I'm in for that again as well.
