Hornberson Reef - DSA 90 gallon mixed reef

Just finished cleaning out the display today, man scooping up 60 lbs of sand is harder when it's wet. Sale for tank/stand are pending to @tygun. Does anyone know of a reliable tank moving service? This tank is 150-200lbs dry and should really be moved by two people with proper heavy duty...

Sounds good. Are you going to pick it up at the frag swap tomorrow or do you want to pick it up at our house in Mountain View?

What Are you Bringing to the Frag Swap?

It looks like my tank breakdown will be complete, so I'll be able to make it tomorrow to hang out for a bit. I'm bringing two free refugium packs - 1 gallon ziplock bags full of chaeto, live rock rubble, pods, and all the goodness you need to start or revive your refugium.

Hornberson Reef - DSA 90 gallon mixed reef

Well, it's a sad day today - the tank is in the process of being broken down. I just helped pack up @euod with everything in the display - fish, corals, and live rocks. If there's anything in the tank you didn't get and you're interested, you should talk to him. I'm breaking everything else...

Seeking Advice for Making Screen Top

I sized my mesh top to sit flush against the Kessil mount base, which is about 1" of a gap against the back sill, but the lip is about 1/2" or so, so the gap of exposed space is only 1/2" or so. I also attached a DIY feeding ring to the mesh itself, which I cut out of a dosing bottle which sits...

[March 26, 2016] BAR Members Frag Swap

Sadly, I'm breaking down my tank this weekend and we're packing up for the move. I'm hoping to drop by the event to catch up with folks and say goodbye before we move in April.

Need a bigger light than an AP700!?!

Oh man, that looks exciting. Reminds me of the BFG from the Doom video games of my youth.

Seeking Advice for Making Screen Top

I've built 3-4 of these over the years and it's easy to do. I think it's worth investing in a $5 spline roller. You can usually cut your screen frame to length with a cheap hacksaw. I usually lay out the paired sides together when I cut them to ensure equal length. Then I usually lay the BRS...

    Guilty confessions

I will admit I've never cleaned my probes in the two years this system has been up and running. The Salinity probe is very difficult to calibrate and get useful numbers from, IMHO - with or without maintenance.

    Tank Breakdown: Full Colonies

I haven't moved anything yet, but folks are coming over first thing tomorrow morning. There's been a lot of interest, but trying to give preference to supporting BAR members (like 30 PMs from Reef Central). I expect most/all coral will go early tomorrow. Once most of the coral/rockwork are...

Tank Breakdown: Free Fish to Good Homes

Thanks to everyone who's expressed interest. I'm working to get the coral/rockwork mostly cleared out this weekend to make it easier to catch these fish so we can find them new homes. I'm being super picky about a home for the mandarins because they are higher maintenance and having two...

    Tank Breakdown: Full Colonies

Thanks, our tank and the great people in BAR have been the highlight of my time in the bay area. I hope to stay active on the forums here even after we move. Hopefully we'll find a house back home and I can setup a tank we keep running for a decade or more.

    Tank Breakdown: Full Colonies

PMs sent to everyone who posted. Because I'm trying to break this down ASAP the prices are cheap but it's first come/first serve. I'm hoping to schedule some times Sat/Sun for folks to come check out coral and pick them up. We're in downtown Mountain View near Castro, PM to arrange a time if...
