Bernie, I have read before that it takes approximately 2 weeks to completely seed a sponge - however, I've never read anything about the saturation curve - i.e. is it at 95% at day 2, but takes 12 to get to 100%...etc. Best guess, is to be patient and give it some time before dropping it...

In my mind, clear water = greater ability for light penetration, which allows one to use less light to get similar PAR if you were using a higher W bulb with less clear water. ...So yes, I think its a good thing - especially for large tanks! Why spend the money on high quality Low FE glass or...
