    2500 gallon Koi pond

Looks terrific. If you add a chiller and salt water, you can make this a salmon pen :-) Can't wait to see it teeming with beautiful koi!

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

Terrific stuff Jim! I think you've got the slickest water change system around. I've been trying to think of a way to make my water changes easier, but for now it's siphoning into buckets and replacing with salt and fresh water (depending on salinity of the tank and the salt I just mixed)...

Ich: Finding My Truth (amidst the gazillion philosophies, schools of thought and approaches)

FWIW, I wouldn't put any confidence that papers published by Hindawai have gone through a rigorous peer review process. Thus, I am not inclined to search for good science there.

Ich: Finding My Truth (amidst the gazillion philosophies, schools of thought and approaches)

Hmm. I sense a BAR group experiment here. Now, all we need are some volunteers, some food, and a big bag of rocks....! ;-)

You'll need a waterfall too, of course...

    Nano Cube Wiring

I did this on my JBJ12. Keeping the wires that run from the ballast to the hood leaves a clean look. Just cut the ends of the wires as needed to redo connectors. I suggest replacing the stock fans to ones that are quieter and that push more air. Mine were from rapid LED.

Crabby's "Elite210" tank at the Romberg Tiburon Center

Thanks guys! Especially Jon - that's HIGH PRAISE! I just realized that the older pics are no longer visible on the MobileMe site - I'll have to update those so that the "progress" series is viewable. Happy holidays!

Crabby's "Elite210" tank at the Romberg Tiburon Center

A few tank shots, left, front and right views taken today. Coral growth has been great! The protein skimmer I've got is a bit undersized now that the corals are filling up the tank. So, I'm going to be upgrading it to a recirculating unit, which will give me some room in the sump for a frag...

new tank with a leaky bulkhead, please advise

I have purchased from flexpvc.com and have been quite happy with the product. It glues into regular PVC fittings just like rigid pipe, though you have to be a bit more careful about priming before gluing and holding the join to get a really solid seal.

new tank with a leaky bulkhead, please advise

You could also plumb the return through a bottom bulkhead with a standpipe to desired tank height. You just have to hide the pipe in the rockwork.

new tank with a leaky bulkhead, please advise

I would use schedule 80, install some flex PVC on straight sections to provide a little wiggle, and seal the bulkhead with silicone inside and outside. I agree that over the side plumbing is safer. Eventually bulkheads leak, and this seems to be a problem more with side-mounted than bottom...

    History of BAR Speakers

I think it was early-mid 2005, but I'm not 100% certain. Could have been pre-merger. I don't know. Rich Ross, Jim Adelberg and other usual suspects were there. So maybe they remember....? 2 kids and way too much to do has left my memory hazy, so if anyone else remembers, pipe up! By...

    History of BAR Speakers

I spoke to the club about our Ofu Island project when it met at Tropical Paradise, Eddie Hanson's shop. That might have been in 2004 or 2005.

Discovery Day this Sunday at the Romberg Tiburon Center

I know at least one club member made it out and had fun. If you missed this year, we'll do it again next year!

Discovery Day this Sunday at the Romberg Tiburon Center

Hi Folks, Sorry for not posting earlier, but this Sunday is Discovery Day at the Romberg Tiburon Center. Discovery Day is our annual open house, and in addition to seeing my reef tank, you can also learn about the science being done in each of the research laboratories. Great for kids...

NB: for folks who brought corals to RTC in July

I made a video that I'll edit when I have time and post to show folks what the nudibranchs and their eggs look like.

    Plasma lights @ RTC

1000W halides would explain the sparkle in that tank! Will be interesting to see how well the straylights work for us....

NB: for folks who brought corals to RTC in July

Yes, it was a regular orgy. We'll only practice safe (frag) swapping from now on.
