Oregon Reefer here moved back to the bay.

Welcome back. I went to OSU then spent a 10 years in Portland before returning to San Jose a few years ago. I’m very fond of the Northwest. Becoming supporting member is worth the $30 ten-fold. Very generous club/members with, well, just about anything. Seriously so much more than just a...

    Fish Stores Worth Going To?

+1 on Bruce’s post. Ed @ Clearwater is great. Small selection but very knowledgeable and passionate about the hobby, cool and not stuffy, and will get you anything you desire at very fair pricing. Ed has talked me out of expensive purchases (fish & dry goods) and always takes the time to...

    Little disaster...

Sorry to hear, Mario. If I didn’t lose all my corals two weeks ago (heater malfunction) I’d be offering you a bunch of frags. I’ll be restocking soon and I’ll let you know when I have extras.

    Jeff's Upgrade to DSA 105

I think the (2) 360’s are good; maybe a 3rd if you get into heavier SPS stuff, but you can do a decent amount with just those two. What percentage are your lights at now? I’d guess less than 40%, so you’ve got another bunch of intensity to play with still. The build is coming along great...

    Custom Sump Recommendations?

Look up Plastic_builders on instagram. They’re in San Jose and they build some cool custom sumps (and just about anything acrylic) at very reasonable prices. I’ve been talking to them about building custom a sump and they’ve (it’s a husband and wife team) been very cool. I’ve seen several of...

NEW SCA 150G PUMP AND PLUMBING QUESTIONS

Thanks for the info @Ibn, always nice to have another first-hand account. Your setup looks great! So I'm pretty sure about 1.5" downpipes and 1" returns at this point and probably adding the Sicce 4.0... I'll keep you all posted. Thanks again!

NEW SCA 150G PUMP AND PLUMBING QUESTIONS

Thanks, Mike and Mike, for the input. The back of the tank is drilled for the two returns. I was thinking that 3/4 would be more ideal pressure than 1" for the returns, but I'm glad I mentioned it. Would you guys recommend 1" for the returns? The Synergy box (external part) has (3) 1.5"...

    Jeff's Upgrade to DSA 105

This is what I did: CaribSea Ocean Direct Caribbean Live Sand - Fine Oolite Substrate 40 lbs CaribSea Ocean Direct Caribbean Live Sand - Original Grade Substrate 40 lbs I've had a total of 80 lbs of sand in the tank which is just right (for me); I think anywhere in the 80-120 range is just perfect.

NEW SCA 150G PUMP AND PLUMBING QUESTIONS

NEW SCA 150G PUMP AND PLUMBING QUESTIONS Hello All, So this weekend I'm setting up my new SCA 150. I'm very excited and grateful for this upgrade opportunity. That said, I've procrastinated a bit on ordering some fancy colored PVC for my plumbing (I'm planning on hard plumbing it)... but...
