an offering for DBTC contributors only-Calfo pulsing sinularia frag

Hey guys, I got two frags of this available if anyone else wants some. Great beginner coral. When I originally received this frag, I got interrupted by something and ended up leaving him out for several hours, *dry* on my work bench. I came back, realized my mistake and immediately dumped...

Constant water change vs Regular water changes

Yup, I use a LiterMeter3 with a water exchange module to do the continuous water change. It's a tank and Spectrapure is fantastic to deal with.

Anybody use ozone in their reef setup ?

I view ozone as just a tank aesthetic enhancer and not something that concretely benefits coral health, personally.

    Auto Top Off w/Kalk

I use the first (lowest) float switch as the primary way of keeping the sump topped off to the correct level. I set the litermeter to a rate that is slightly higher than the rate of evaporation of my tank. This way, if the first float switch fails, the pump will still top off the tank, but...

Anybody use ozone in their reef setup ?

I use one. It's a large Ozotech unit. I bought it second hand and it doesn't tell me how much it doses, but I have it set at "3". :P I've used it for years and I know it works cuz if you sniff it it makes your brain spin. I haven't done any A-B comparisons with it on or off, so hard...

Constant water change vs Regular water changes

I don't quite understand this statement... Doing a continuous water change from a math perspective is very little different than doing a large single change. You have the additional benefits of decreased stress to livestock and reduced effort. Cons are primarily $$$ for equipment and the...

    Auto Top Off w/Kalk

I second Gresham's recommendation. I use a resevoir coupled with a peristaltic pump which pushes water through a kalk reactor. The primary benefit is that it is unlikely that I will overdose my tank with kalk. The litermeter is actually also connected to a float valve, so I have a double...

My new prized anemone might not be happy

Meh, they are not so hot. In fact, I lost almost all of them except the colorado sunbursts, robins rainbow and a red/green. I am now nearly 100 percent sure it is some sort of infectious disease. I had a domino effect style loss of nems as I moved them from one tank to another thinking it was...

Hey guys, so I ended up losing one of the frags I was going to DBTC and brought one to Baymac. Looked for both of you, but only found Bluevoodoo, so the frag went to him. Sfork, sorry I wasn't able to give you a frag this round. You will be automatically up next when I frag the next eye...

    opinions on calcium reactors please

I run a geo 618. Love it. Easy to tune and rock stable. Kyle's 624 should be fine for you. I don't think I am even close to pushing the 618 on my 180.

    BEST DAY EVAR! :D

I think it is more interesting to watch Matthew watch spawning clownfish than to watch spawning clownfish. :D

    Maxi mini nems

There's very few in the Bay Area and I have never seen a maxi mini in a LFS here. Only exception is that Atlantis used to have the Atlantis Red Mini Carpet for $200, but I don't think they have had it in stock for a very long time. The Atlantis red is completely blood red...

    ElDiabloSRT8's 120 gallon

If you cut that BTA, I would suggest doing it in half and not quarters. I think it will be less traumatic for the anemone. If you are interested in manually propping the BTAs, I wrote up an article in this month's Reef Hobbyist Magazine on my experience with cutting them...
