    Analyzing electrical usage by system.

Ahh, the microclimate and architectural variations of San Jose and SF. It bakes down here. :P

    Analyzing electrical usage by system.

This may not be applicable to your system, but for my inwall tank with the back inside the garage, during the summer, the garage would turn into a baking greenhouse due to the halides. I actually would have to leave the garage door open on hot nights just to keep the heat down. When I...

    Very sad BTA crash...

I'm so sorry Patrick! I didn't even know BTAs suffered from these types of infections. I was pretty suspicious of either a viral or bacterial infection before, but given what happened to you, I am pretty certain this is some type of BTA disease. Especially since it seemed to afflict uncut...

    Very sad BTA crash...

Sigh. Fire anemone was in a different tank and crawled into a koralia nano. I didn't think that stupid little pump even pushed enough water to pull anything into it! :P

    Very sad BTA crash...

FYI, Josh's Colorado Sunburst is one of the prettiest BTAs I have ever seen. It's not really a traditional flame tip (i.e.: Red tentacles with yellow tips), but it is extremely striking. The fact that it survived my BTA crash is an added bonus.

    Very sad BTA crash...

Hey Josh! I didn't know you were on the BAR forums! :) No, that sunburst looks fantastic. He even split after making it into the tank. He's the one bright spot to the whole BTA debacle. +1 on long lineage captive bred nems!

    Very sad BTA crash...

Thanks guys. Losing stock and prized pieces every now and then just seems to be something we must all accept in this hobby. On the bright side, most everything else is doing fantastic and after talking to Tyler at DPV, I am going to try Furan anti-biotic dips to see if that has any effect on a...

    Very sad BTA crash...

So after years of successful BTA keeping I had a strange and sudden crash which wiped out many of my prized BTAs. I lost flame tips, green tips, the lemondrop... gah. I was so upset I actually stopped reading the forums for awhile. At first I thought that maybe it had to do with the...

How do you feed thawed mysis without them just floating to the surface or sticking to tweezers?

Tweezer and turkey baster to stick them to the tentacles like Monzer suggests. If I want to feed something that sinks, i use very small pellets.

Eight's 170 gallon in wall LeeMar

I got them from Er1c. I certainly don't regret the purchase, they are amazing and very unique. That said, I know there's a bit of a socal market cartel on colorful s.tapetums... :P

Nope, socal. Not cheap either... ouch.

    Using activated carbon in reefs

I love the Bulk Reef Supply dual chamber GFO-Carbon reactor. I have one on my display and ordered another for Bonnie's tank. I saw some at Neptune if you're looking for one.

Thanks Gresh! I hear they 'take well to the blade' so I just might get adventurous with them in the future. ;)

Crappy photo, but here's a few mini carpet anemones I picked up.

Eight's 170 gallon in wall LeeMar

Yup. The fire anemone and the mantis are both in there. I've watched the mantis crawl right over the fire anemone and not even flinch. The little 5.5 gallon has now been renamed the "Tank of DOOOOOM". $10 to whoever closes their eyes and holds their hand in there for 1 full minute...

    Skimmers. Cone or Cylindrical

I think that the pump is by far the most important part of the skimmer. Having owned probably 8 skimmers in the past three years, I've stopped worrying about absolute efficiency/brute air pull and instead focus on reliability, convenience, build quality and noise level.

Eight's 170 gallon in wall LeeMar

Yup, still have the Elos. I was originally planning on selling it off when I upgraded to the inwall, but Bonnie convinced me to keep it. So technically, I suppose this mantis is in Bonnie's tank... but who's really keeping track? :P

Eight's 170 gallon in wall LeeMar

Thanks Jdizzle. :) It's been a long time since I've posted on this thread, so here are a few updates. I got a new resident recently, a beautiful peacock mantis shrimp. I've been wanting to get one for years, but never really had the opportunity. Finally I decided that the little 5.5...

Dolphin Pet Village Bubble Tip Anemone--Purple with Neon Green Tips

I have clones of this same guy. Not like this DBTC needs to be pumped up anymore, but this is one of my favorite BTA morphs and probably among the hardiest. This guy takes to manual division quite well.
