Wp10 doesn't run unless you manually spin the prop?

The entire body of the powerhead is potted in epoxy. I will check the impeller shaft and impeller again. There could be some buildup in missed. I guess the other thing to try would be swapping the impeller from my other wp10 and seeing if it works. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

Wp10 doesn't run unless you manually spin the prop?

So, my first wp10 failed after about a year of use. I took it all apart and soaked it in vinegar so everything is clean now. I find it won't spin up unless you manually spin the prop a few times. As soon as it stops it won't start again. No noticeable seizing of the prop or anything...

    DIY Frag Rack

Lol yeah it was pretty easy to make. I used to just use a chunk of eggcrate with some magnets encased in epoxy putty. Super ghetto but it works. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

    DIY Frag Rack

Though I'm sure in the end it'll be a transparent background coated in coraline. :). Lol Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

    DIY Frag Rack

Thanks! Yes I wanted a very small unobtrusive rack. I was going to use some 1/2" neodibyium magnets but they're too weak to really hold through the tank wall. I am tried some 3/4" ceramic magnets but again was too weak. I will have to order some stronger wider neodibyium magnets and use...

    DIY Frag Rack

Yeah I'm not sure what the best equipment is for this. I cut the acrylic to size with a table saw but the edges were far from perfect. I got some melting of the chips happening. I think maybe the blade on the saw was a finishing blade so too many teeth... The mill seems way overkill for...

[February 20th, 2016] - Scott Fellman talk on Reef Culture

Great presentation by Scott! It was awesome to see the "Reef trends over time". Got me thinking of how I fell for some of those hook line and sinker at the time. When my original 140g tank was set up in 2005 I had a sand bed. Then when the tank crashed due to a crappy chinese ozone...

    DIY Frag Rack

Today while I was at the machine shop, I decided I've build a small frag rack for my tank. I made some insets on the back piece that fits some magnets, so I'll use that to hold it to the glass. This is the FIRST time I have done a solvent weld for acrylic, and as you can see on the left side...

    Over-designed salt water exchange system

Hey Muriatic acid on a dosing pump with a pH controller was how I cured the cement rocks I made years back. Lol. So there is merit to this.

Got bit by the bug, sort of...

Haha, if it helps push you back in, the 37g oceanic you so generously gave me could be yours again! :) Nothing wrong with it, but sure would give me a good excuse to get a bigger tank. Hahaha.

    Fragging ricordeas

Maybe I'll just have to get all mad-scientist and give it a try. :) Hah. Time to order some fragging tools.

    $$$ MONEY $$$

Haha, I can't believe how much my "free 37g" tank has cost me.

Post pictures of your Corals EATING!

I'd just add more water. I usually add a small amount of food and dilute in lots of water. I gently blow over the corals with a Kent Marine Sea Squirt (basically a loooong baster)... Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

    Fragging ricordeas

Has anyone fragged rics? My blue ones have finally spread enough I feel I should do some fragging so others can enjoy these beauties. From what I've seen the approach should be to cut a single polyp through the middle of its mouth, forming two pieces. Then place in a container with some...

Hmm sounds like I really need a Fusion.... Or this is just another ploy for me to justify getting one at least. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

    Underlayment for new 180 Gallon?

I always assumed for either the styro was to prevent point loads from things like a stray sand grain or imperfections on the stand. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

    $$$ MONEY $$$

Yeah if I count the 140g tank I had with a basement sump and fish room.... Well lets just say I don't want to add up the costs. Lol. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk

    Underlayment for new 180 Gallon?

I have used the pink styro insulation in the past with glass tanks. As long as its not rimmed then I think it is generally a good idea. Sent from my Nexus 6 using Tapatalk
