Sunscreen kill coral reefs in tourist areas

The rash guard I got in Costco in Hawaii was like a long sleeved hoodie- neck head arms all protected. The only thing out in the sun was hands and lower legs. Theses never got much tan. Hand are usually under me so no sun. I never had a problem but I am sure there is something that can be worn...

Sunscreen kill coral reefs in tourist areas

I found that wearing a rash guard is a much better alternative when snorkeling etc. on my latest trip to Hawaii. No sunscreen and no burn, in the water all day, all week long. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Rid-Ich?

Btw, just to confirm - this is a reef running at 35ppt/1.026 for the salinity, correct? I ask because if you were running a fowlr in hypo conditions, uronema marinum can cause the symptoms - but unlikely in full strength salt with a healthy reef. You could try to live with it but you would...

    Rid-Ich?

The display will have brook so you have to keep it empty of all fish. I would do something like this: Day 1 dip Day 2 wait Day 3 dip Day 4 wait Day 5 dip Day 6 wait Day 7-60(many people recommend more so if you want to be sure, go longer) hold in clean qt The wait is in water with 0.1ml per...

    Rid-Ich?

Also, brook mainly lives in gills. Your clown and tang may appear asymptomatic but they are still infected and will flare up and potentially die under any stress. They will also infect any new fish added to the tank. Brook is a much more potent killer than ich, so if you do have brook, I don't...

    Rid-Ich?

Hope some fish are still ok. For brook do a 1 hr formalin dip(1 ml 37% per gal of new water) then place in new tank/bucket with new water(with 0.1 ml 37% formalin per gal). Salt buckets or brute trash cans work great for this. Repeat 3 or more times over a few days(1 day break between dips) and...

Dr Tim's, Fish oil or fact?

I've used both Dr. Tim's and BioSpiria a few times setting up qt tanks. Between the two, Bio-Spiria was the only one that got close to "instant cycle". So if you are hoping to get fish in right away I would go for BioSpiria. If you are using it on a tank for coral I recommend you wait a least...

My Review - Aiptasia Control: Joe's Juice vs Red Sea Aiptasia-X

Berghia nudibranch FTW. I tried everything, chemical, electrical, mechanical, and the aiptasia always came back stronger than before. I bought some berghia nudibranch from a guy out in Pleasanton, dropped them in the tank and haven't seen any aiptasia in 2 years.

    Aquaticlife RODI

I used to use an aquatic life until I found the seals don't work and water never went thought the resin. I tossed it out and got the brs unit and never looked back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    wtf moment

The funny thing is the zoa green matched the lobo green perfectly, I had to shake my head a couple times when I saw it. I tried to pull the zoa out, but it held on strongly enough to break the lobo's glue mount to rock, so I gave up and let it eat. Looks fat and happy today!

    Hitchhiker ID help.

Looks like a stomatella to me. I like them - they clean up, get in all the smallest cracks and don't knock things around.

Skimmers: how long are you running your's?

I have a mixed tank and run 24/7 - I have a lot of fish and feed well so the skimmer doesn't bother anything. I limit my GFO because too much flow though GFO = too low phosphate thus softies stop growing and start to shrink.
