    My fish closet

    Thanks, Tony. I ordered one!

    My fish closet

Okay here's a photo of the tank: Most of the corals are doing pretty well (and they're mostly from BAR. Thanks guys!) but the few acros I had took a beating when I let water parameters get too far out of range during the closet rebuild. Lighting is a 250W Radium, T5 actinics, and a...

    My fish closet

Oh yeah, good point. I had thought of doing that, but then kind of forgot. Any suggestions for how to strap it?

    My fish closet

John, I didn't finish or trim the hole in any way. Since it's comes out under the sump I didn't worry about it. You could put a flange on it to cover the drywall edge: http://www.trimbydesign.com/categorydisplay.asp?CatName=Traps

Thanks everyone. Mike, I don't have a before picture unfortunately. I ripped into it before I thought about doing that.

    My fish closet

Oh, what it plumbs to? Not nearly so pretty. ;-) Regardless, I'll try to take a photo soon and post for posterity. John, going through this wall was tough. It's 8" thick solid masonry. I drilled it with a rotary hammer then just ran the pipe though. After the pipe goes through the wall, it...

    My fish closet

Oh, PS. The shelves are wire shelving, cut with an angle grinder to fit. So far they work great but I'd probably have done stainless steel if I didn't have these lying around already.

    My fish closet

I have a coat closet right behind my aquarium, which is awesome because I can put all sorts of gear in there. Up until recently, however, it's been an disaster waiting to happen. I had a rusty DJ power strip clamped to an old board, with a tank right above it. Lighting was with a crappy...

    Cereal

Possibly corn flakes would be more accurate. Wouldn't spectrum pellets be something like Kix? Or maybe meatballs? (not a cereal, I realize)

    Cereal

I was just sitting here enjoying a nice bowl of fruity pebbles, when it dawned on me: this is flake food for humans. Your thoughts?

Fish Tank Kings on National Geographic Channel

I really hate the themed tanks on Tanked. They're so kitschy and ugly! I can't say I care much for the brightly colored fake coral either, but at least it's somewhat better. On FTK I do appreciate the fish guy's dedication, but I have to admit that when he's in an uproar about the fake...

I don't think anything changed with those permissions, so it's probably always been like that. Maybe we should consider changing it, though!

    Threaded PVC fittings leaking

Is it possible that the MPT adapter doesn't have tapered threads? Does it bottom out rather than getting tighter as it goes in?

    Hi everyone!

Welcome! I'm a diver too. I just got back from a trip to Fiji where we did a bunch of diving. Anyway, what sort of engineering do you do?

    Most Reliable Heater?

I had another heater bite the dust. What do you guys like these days for heaters. Any that have a particularly good reliability record?
