I think you are right. It's possible to have water that is TOO clean and you don't get good tissue growth, or worse. I think that's the cause of the burnt tips that ULNS run into - the skeleton grows quicker than the tissue because while there is plenty of trace elements and CA/ALK, there isn't...

My cardinals are too picky for pellets, so I mostly use frozen (rods and now fish frenzy.) I have a few kinds of fauna marin pellets that I might throw in now and then. Maybe once every two weeks I spot feed my coral with reef roids and acropower.

With a bit of serendipity, Neptune Aquatics now carries this. I got a pack, and I'm impressed. It seems cleaner than Rod's, less cloudiness in the tank. Nice chunks of food in it. Fish seem to like it!

Really tempting but I'm not sure it would do well in my SPS dominant tank. I cant remember exactly but don't they do not so great with high flow? It might also eat some of my other fish. How hard is it to feed? Does it require live food or training to eat frozen?

I bought my real live rock from T&T aquarium. They had some in stock at the beginning of the year, but I haven't been back since. I will say this though, if I was going to restart my tank, I would opt either for dry/manmade rock, or the Florida maricultured rock from TBS.
