I can get out there but probably not til weekend.. Also if someone else wants it-they can jump the line. I am leaving in two weeks so I tend not to put anything new in the tank 2-3 weeks before I leave

    Careers in marine aquatics

I would say do some informational interviews with some people on here that actually have marine bio degrees - @Thales , @Matt_Wandell, @BAYMAC I believe have degrees in marine biology. Also go into the academic depts and talk with them. I know in other areas such as biology -there is way...

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Ooops. That’s me. I’d thought I was going slow. But not slow enough. Just did cut the dose though in addition to changing dosing frequency so hopefully less escapes the skimmer and more precipitates out as waste in the skimmer cup.

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Thanks. This is helpful. Def will change the dosing regimen. As I dose into the protein skimmer I limit it to night time when it doesn’t get stopped for feedings. But I can expand the time frame. Also sounds like I need to dilute even more (40:1) - I tend to keep it around .2 (for nitrates...

Guide: Lanthanum Chloride dosing for Phosphate control

Ok for those who are doing this-do you regularly run ICP tests to see if there is a build up? I was a little surprised to see a 3.x value for LaCl. Obviously I cut back and changed the dosing regimen from 3x at 14.x ml to 10x at 4 ml.

    Bunch of coral dying

Latest results plus mapping of fluorine and tin. Tin was decreasing when all this happened -so was the fluorine. Things didn’t really start until January as Tin was coming down. Wondering if it was 1-2 punch. But if tin is decreasing… I need to see when I had switched water from NSW to AC and...

    Bunch of coral dying

I looked at various pumps from the outside but have not had the time to seriously rip them apart. Read something called -poly filter can help (and change color) -not sure if legit or not? I’ll have to look back at my other reports and see if this is new or I just missed the boat on this.

    Bunch of coral dying

Well I think the issue is a serious deficiency of fluorine per ICP test? It is at .59 vs 1.2 recommended guideline. Looking up the deficiency would explain sudden RTN of corals. Everything else looking pretty much ok Although Lanthanum came in at 3.44. Tin came in st 5.44 and silicon at 81.

    Bunch of coral dying

Thank you both @JVU & @Alexander1312 for your input on this. I do have carbon. I have been leery in deploying in only that in the past I have been very deficient in certain trace elements -namely iodine..So hopefully the ICP will come back soon. Right now things have stabilized and all coral...
