I picked up a few different things from Neptunes right now. Some frozen food I normally don’t use- just to add variety. Some spirulina flakes to go into avast along with reef jerky and freeze dried mysis. I do have some of that Seaweed Extreme @Alexander1312 mentioned so I’ll throw that in there...
Recently ordered an Avast Plank. I’ve been meaning to do it but a couple days ago @Darkxerox gave me one of his copperbands and I want to make sure she stays well fed. I’ve been doing a good job of feeding multiple times already but this will make life easier.
What food is everyone putting in...
Use a DC controllable pump so you can adjust the flow to the rate you need. I used a small Jebaoe DCP that I had on hand but anything controllable should work really. What I did was filled a measured bucket and used a timer to figure out the gallons per hour flow rate I was getting.
The most effective way would be to get a return pump in your display and you can connect it to your UV with tubing and then tubing for output back into display. It’s going to look ugly but it’s temporary
Ostreopsis dinoflagellates
I tried a bunch of things for this when I had it, UV did the trick in around 10 days they were all gone. I’d just jump straight to UV. Make sure it’s setup properly, display to display, and 3W / 1 Gallon minimum
Yeah I kinda get what you mean. I was starting my yellow tang in my 45 gallon frag tank but he got beat up by the clownfish in there so I had to move him to the 90 which I was worried was too new still but he’s doing good
I think a lot of people agree with this to an extent. Getting a smaller fish and starting with a smaller than needed tank and then upgrading when they’re larger. But a starting point for a purple tang shouldn’t be a 5 gallon tank. If you had a 40 gallon breeder I think there could be an argument...
Welcome! Always wanted to try discus but never got the chance before I transitioned to all saltwater. Hopefully after all the tank tours we can convince you to get a reef going soon lol
