It's 6:15pm and the power goes out...

Good to hear both John and David survived! I need to build a DC battery with trickle charger for my MP40s. So I won't have to travel back in time to smack myself. My guess is I will probably get lazy and still need to time travel and smack myself! Now to find that post a while back for the...

Also, thanks to Ian who lent us his glass movers! Made it that much safer to move, especially through doorways. I'll post pictures later.

    Help-a-reefer: moving to Berkeley

A huge thanks for David (lattehiatus), Boun (ucbgw), Thieu (euod)!!! They helped a very disorganized Ron (me) break down my tank and then haul it all the way into a 10footer uhaul. It is now in its final place but I still got a lot of work ahead. Thanks guys! I owe you one! For those that...

    Help-a-reefer: moving to Berkeley

First trip took like 60 gallons in a uhaul with my propagation tanks (two 60 gallons) plus a 50gal stock tank. Second trip took 50 gallons in minivan through back roads of Berkeley hills.

    Help-a-reefer: moving to Berkeley

Ok, so the current plan is I plan to move my "main tank" next Saturday, the 26th. Anyone have next Saturday free? I will probably rent a uhaul so I can move my tank and stand at the same time. Along with sump and such. Helpers are welcome to frags that come off during breakdown. (plan is to...

Should I reseal my entire tank before setup?

Removing all the silicone secondary seals will take some time. Maybe 5-6 hours. Then You have to wipe it down and/or rinse it out, let it dry, so another day. Then you have to reseal it, another 2-3 hours. Then you let it sit for 1 week to make sure the silicone has enough curing time. Make...

Need help moving from garage to dining room! (20 feet maybe) Oct 5 or 6 San Mateo

We are moving next weekend our "home stuff" so I wouldn't be able to help. Sorry! The tank stuff is occurring the weeks after that. But sounds like your 100gal won't be available until end of October, which will be too long for me to leave my tank in ultra low maintenance in Walnut Creek all...

Need help moving from garage to dining room! (20 feet maybe) Oct 5 or 6 San Mateo

Thread jack! :). Do you have a holding tank and such I can borrow after your "move"? I could use it the weeks after next to help move/transition my walnut creek to berkeley tank move.

    Bumbling newbie's 65g mixed reef

By Corals I have been propagated in hobbyist tanks because they are used to water conditions that are worse than natural salt water. For beginning hobbyist, don't buy wild caught colony of coral or wild caught fish. We all want to get you to be successful and not get disheartened by early losses.

    Bumbling newbie's 65g mixed reef

First generation coralline algae is usually green. Good be other algae. But in general I do not worry about phosphates and nitrates if I have a good skimmer and deep sand bed. I try not to run GFO or carbon except in emergencies. I am a "lazy reefer", but stuff grows in my tank. Granted my...

    Is it weird that...

I think you are being overly cautious. While I agree about ideas behind QT, I never have. Like Kensington says... Enjoy fish. Get corals if you are worries about killing fish. ;) They are inanimate (relatively).

    Help-a-reefer: moving to Berkeley

Hahaha! Me too. It'll be more fun to hang with the Berkeley crowd. But I'll be working in the city, but evenings and weekends should be awesome. Good food, good company, and good reefing! (now to figure out where to put my RODI unit) not sure enough room in the house

    Help-a-reefer: moving to Berkeley

Anyone know of any good ways to "transport"SPS colonies? Like 2-3 fist large size? Wrap in plastic bag in bucket? Or how keep them separated but prevent tissue loss and/or reduce sliming?
