I understand. I don’t disagree with you or them. I do still wonder if a ph probe gives wonky readings when large amounts of debris are flowing around it like after scraping algae. I just don’t know enough about how they generate a reading and if debris can change the reading.

I think I hear you @derek_SR & @RandyC If you hear hooves, think horses, not zebras. Common first then move to exotic. I don't know much about ph probes besides hearing they need lots of calibration and have a decent +/- error rate... Could the simple fact that debris from scrapping the...

Goni fighting with its neighbor. Curious to see the blue tips of the Goni only on the fighting side of the coral. Would be cool to know if the color change at the tips is offensive or defensive.

    Sulfamic acid to clean pumps?

good idea looking for other sellers than reefing companies for a cleaning product. Avoids the reefing tax. Somehow I have lucked out on current tank and have zero coraline algae to battle with. I just scrub powerheads clean in water change water when needed (algae buildup). Haven't touched the...

Your no. 1 (overlooked) thing to plan for when going on extended vacation

Test out the larger ato container if you use a larger one. If the water is high enough, a siphon can be created and dump more water than needed. My setup acts this way if I fill my res over the 8g marker height. Not a full siphon but takes a minute for gravity to win/stop the siphon.

    Tang Compatibility

Maybe somewhere in the middle of the spectrum of others, although I hope better than average. Hard to grade myself. It takes mental gymnastics for me to justify my participation in the hobby sometimes. To help with that, I try my best. But trying my best might be different than others trying...

    Tang Compatibility

This is a tough question to not give a generally speaking answer to. It has been said over the years to keep different body shapes together if keeping multiple (same as what Eric said but with different words). But even that sometimes fails to keep aggression down. No guarantees when it comes to...

    Black Sponge ID?!

My black sponge grows more blob like than your silo like towers. Maybe just different stages of growth but same type? It has been in the tank for several years and grown at a slow rate and mostly in shaded areas.Slow enough that I have let it ride. Here is a pic from the web that shows similar...
