There's no better way to wait for the masterpiece than with a cold one in your hand. At this pace you'll have water in the tank before the 200th post which will show Jim how to do a tank thread. :)

    Cloudy water after carbon/gfo

I've done numerous carbon/ GFO changes and never a problem. it's a mystery to me considering you prerinsed it. Is there anything that could have contaminated it? Maybe too many nutrients were removed/ stripped from the tank causing the stressing of corals, but that's just a theory.

Any luck in keeping a tank free of Bubble Algae?

Arnold- thanks for defending my frags in that they're not full of bubbles. :) Sorry Dave if I gave you my bubble algae- I've tried 2-3 foxfaces (1 spot type) and they don't touch that type at all, whether whole or popped. I'm going to try my best to prevent them from getting into my tank...

Any luck in keeping a tank free of Bubble Algae?

Just like the subject line says, I'm curious if people have had luck keeping bubble algae out of their tank, even if making the effort from the very start of their tank. I'm talking 100% bubble algae free for let's say a 2 or more year duration- is that doable? I tried to keep bubble algae...

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

Very cool- it's like the rock has a built in blenny hole, made just for him.

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

The rockwork looks great in person- it really has a good sense of depth which I believe the black background helps with. There are many levels/ sightlines of this tank, it's really cool the way it was done. The tunzes are well hidded also, this was really planned out nicely. also- thanks for...

Help Needed to win Kessil Light :)

Hope you get a light out of it. It shows that if you spam 100s of friends you could get a goldfish bowl to win a best tank contest.

Are you planning on using mortar or rods for making different structures & towers? With your size tank you've got plenty of height to make a couple tall towers in the back which might provide a nice contrast to lower level structures towards the front. I agree that the Pukani are the choice...

    Cooking live rock and aptasia......

Muratic acid also works, it's like bleach on steroids! it'll even kill the cockroaches. it's really nasty stuff though and caution is needed.

Help Needed to win Kessil Light :)

You got my 'like'. You're already way ahead in the voting. The other tanks don't compare anyway so it's hard to imagine you not winning.

    One tough little Coris Wrasse

He looks a little skinny but not that much. He was probably a little fat to start with and scavanged whatever he could find in the sump all the while avoiding the various pumps & plumbing hazards.

    One tough little Coris Wrasse

thought I'd share the experience I just had with my Yellow Coris Wrasse. Around 2 months ago I saw he disappeared from my Frag tank. He had made it to the sump but I didn't know it at that time. I drained the water from my tank and sump around 2-3 weeks ago and left the sump sit in the tank...

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

yeah, I bet he'd like a girlfriend, better yet multiple girlfriends since he's making himself look good for them :) I haven't started on the aquascaping portion of my reborn tank- still cleaning out the old stuff and working on redoing plumbing, sump, fuge, etc.

This is shaping up to be a seriously awesome setup. looking forward to seeing it all come together- it's all so well done. I'm curious to see what transpires with the aquascape since the 31" front to back offers a lot of possibilities.

    Gimmito's 450 gal L-shaped tank

Love the video updates. It's cool to see both wrasses doing well & swimming around with so much space, plus they have a lot more friends than they had in their previous tank.

Name this fish: Whats small, cute, full of personality. and eats macroalgae

I've had a few 1-spot rabbitfish, supposebly the 1-spots are smaller than the non-spot ones but I've never tested that theory. They do fine like Gresham said, they don't grow super big, you should get around 6-12 months of grazing before he gets larger than 4". Plus no fish ever pick on them...

    How long is your photoperiod?

when I had a photoperiod: 11 hrs. for the blue/ actinic lights- mainly so I could see in the tank, MH for 6.5 hrs, but each one coming on about 30 minutes apart.
