Mine took less than a week. I couldn’t believe it. The aptasia was about 3/4 inch taller . Only had maybe 6-8 that I could see.

Years later…. Update. I had to raise the skimmer another 2 inches. Much better. :)

I was skeptical about peppermint shrimp eating aptasia. I bought two and the apatasia was toast! Tried chemical killers in the past with no success. I’m a believer.

It’s the 24 inch, 6 bulb 24 watt bulbs. Bulbs about 6-8 months old. Tiny bit of rust on the fan mount plate area.

When I first started it , it was fine. Then volcano for a couple of weeks. Changed water after the volcano.

How do I join? Don’t know if there’s a market for this fixture... I’m in SF if anyone is interested.

It was fine when I started. It’s at 7 inches. Should I raise it?

The skimmer has gone mad. Bubbles erupting! Can even put the cup on. Did water change. Uh uhh!

So 9 went ballistic. At 12-13 setting for about a week. The old Vertex seemed to have finer bubbles to the neck. For some reason, the bubbles enlarge in the neck on this skimmer. Skimmate still medium tea.

Sorry no. I think this is still breaking in. This is day 4 and the gunk is medium colored tea. Rotten egg smell. I’m sure it will get better. My broken in Vertex pulled darker skimmate. Started it Tuesday evening, this is Sat AM cup. Setting it at 9 today. One click.

3 days later, I have it set on 10.

7 hours later, bubbles settled. A little more light skimmate in cup. I turned setting to 15.

About 7 inches of water. Adjustment at “16” per instructions. About 1 1/2 hours later bubbles made it to the cup. Large bubbles at the moment. Will check tomorrow AM.

Vertex has sturdier build. Reef O much smaller footprint and quieter, but a little top heavy because of narrow base. 20 watts to 11 watts.

I started using phosguard and will just swap the small bag out. I got to lazy with GFO. Thanks for all the opinions. Read that Potential leaching of aluminum would be in low PH or something... We will see.
