    Photography Forum?

For what it's worth, TalkingReef had a fabulous* interview on how to do aquarium photography with an SLR. *fabulous is a relative term; if you've ever listened to this guy, you know what I mean.

What brand is the most reliable for heater?

We have had great luck with ebo jager, but we've only been at this about 4 years. (We have owned 6 ebo jager heaters on various tanks in Boston and CA and only had one die -- the one that failed was bought used with a tank and we were told it was really old. It was certainly old enough to have...

what do you guys use for stabilizing your PH?

We use Randy's 2 part recipe (without baking the NaHCO3) -- everything has been very stable since we moved to this. Previously, we'd been using kalkwasser without enough of an alkalinity supplement, and that was starting to cause problems.

December 9th BAR Meeting - Holiday Mixer and Dessert Potluck 1:00 PM at ASAP

I hope Elite likes to eat Arcti-pods. We could use a few extra servings.

I'll bite. Where is that? Looks great!

Tang not eating greens other than Nori

We'll have to try the fresh arctipods rather than freeze dired cyclopeeze. Gresham's preservation seems more friendly than Cyclop-eeze anyway. We'll also pick up some Macrofeast to try.

Tang not eating greens other than Nori

Our Pacific Sailfin tang won't eat any vegetables but Nori. He does eat meaty foods from food cubes (homemade, mysis, etc). We've tried mixing other seaweeds (kelp and two others) with the food, but even with some garlic, he picks around the greens. We've also tried Romaine, brocolli, and...

    All Depressed Now...

What do you think happened in the 58g? I've never used it, but I thought chemiclean was pretty safe?

    New Tank Time

Same thing happened to me on my triple post previously -- I was then racking my brain to come up with three things to say. Sadly, you've already read the best I could come up with!

    New Tank Time

Also, you can get into your sump and fuge more easily!

    New Tank Time

That makes a lot of sense!!! I didn't realize the C2C was open on top; I just thought it was load balancing the overflows. We really enjoy being able to see into the tank near eye level, and 61" will be perfect for that. (I think ours is around 63") Most of the stands I see in stores are...

    New Tank Time

I think I can answer my own question about the C2C: if one overflow pipe clogs and your return is pushing more water than your first overflow can handle, the C2C could save you before your transfer your sump volume to your carpet. Here's a new question, any reason not to run the C2C along the...

    New Tank Time

What is the role of the coast to coast in this design? I don't see the benefit. (Probably my shortcoming) The size you are proposing now is very similar to our commercial 90 (48x18x25), and we've been extremely happy with it. Ours is mounted a little high (so eye level is about 3/4s of the...

    DIY Refugium

It was really easy with their applicator and with the planed edges. I had never glued any acrylic before either!

    Astrea Spawning

Just a few days ago, we saw one of our Astreas spawn. The clowns went nuts for the eggs. We moved him (her?) to the fuge in the hopes that some of the eggs might make it down there. Here are a few pics of the Astrea with some of the green eggs. The eggs are just slightly negatively buoyant.

    DIY Refugium

We just built a refugium, and I thought I'd show off some pictures to inspire others: We got the plastic from JBL Plastic -- they were cheap and prompt and even planed (not polished) the edges for us! They also sold the glues and a cute little book telling you how to bend plastics and...

Tropic Marin Pro Coral Care - local?

Does flatworm exit work for AEFW? We used it for acoel flatworms with great success back in Boston. If you try it, follow the directions very carefully with regard to the filtration afterwards, and do it a few times about 5-6 days apart to get any hatchlings.

    Looking for new cyanacrylite source

I think Palm labs adhesives sells high viscosity CA in up to 40 lb quantities, and they'd probably go larger if you needed it. Also, you can check out Apollo Cyanoacrylate (2999) from Cyberbond.
