Reef nutrition

Any good LFS in san jose ca.?

there is Lucky Goldfish. Kinda a hoel is the wall place. Its either hit or miss. Dont use their water for anything. Their reef tank that is supposidly "show only" they do sell out of. Some nice stuff.

Then there is Aquatic Gallery. All i can say is amazing. Beautiful shop. I personally cant afford much there but i sure wish i could. It is by far the nicest shop i have ever been in.

There is also Neptune Aquatics. Small shop. Has a new owner. He is a really nice guy. Was getting everything more or less setup when i was there last. He had about 8 small coral prop tanks with stuff for sale ranging from i think 5$ to about 250$. Notmuch on fish there. But nice to check out.

Then Dolphin Pet Center. Reminds me more of Petsmart with saltwater. They have a good selection of coral and fish. I personally found them a bit on the pricey side. But they did have a good selection.

Yea I forgot the name of that place so I didn't list it but atlantis aquarium has two beautiful 600 or 800 gallon tanks. Nice stuff there as well.

I went to Neptunes today and the place was pretty cool. They got a lot of frags and stuff. It's a hole in the wall place. Only open 6-9 pm but it works out good for me. The owners are very nice and knowledgeable. I picked up a ricordea and planning on going back there tomorrow :). If u want variety then check this store out.

I'd shop at Petco any day if they had even 100th the knowledge and quality livestock Tyler offers at Dolphin. You will be hard pressed to find a store like Dolphin in terms of captive breeding programs, knowledge and caring employees. I've been shopping there for longer then I have been in the reef hobby and they have never done me wrong. No other store in the bay area is doing even 100th of what Tyler is doing in terms of captive breeding fish.

You know the only reason I said anything is for 30 some odd years I couldn't shake "anything over the hill is the Valley" :D For once I could say something else to a coaster like me

In that case if anyone asks me where a LFS is around here I'm gonna tell them to "go back to the valley" :D, can I add "kook" at the end or is that a little too much verbal stinkeye ;D.

BTW, it's stinkeye central up here, 30 guys on one miserable peak, and I don't recognize a single one ::) Didn't go out fo sure, stayed home and BBQ'd.

You should have seen the crowds here locally, even with such foggy weather :( I think I counted over 1 billion at the lane :)

Gone are the days kook, or graffiti on the welcome signs (which used to "welcome to Santa Cruz..now go home). Localism is still strong, but now they see the value in the money tourists bring so they started their own surf schools to capitalize on it :)
