On previous glowing recommendations from this forum I ordered some Apoxie Sculpt. Tonight I used some to attach some base rocks that were a little unstable.

It's been about an hour now, and the stuff appears to be distintegrating! It's flaking off and collecting in a pile while little bubbles go to the surface. Yikes! Any advice?

Great stuff.

If the stuff is still loose and flaky it means it wasn't either mixed in equal proportions or you didn't knead it/mix it well enough.

The one thing is the stuff will get hard over time if you don't use it up. I know after six months it was pretty hard.

Pixel, what color did you order? I have used two different colors and they react *very* differently in saltwater. The stuff that I used for years was the pink. It works great. A few months ago I ordered the silver gray and it did exactly what you describe. Flaked off, disintegrated, etc... I then did a test where I mixed the silver and pink formulations and put them both in the same bowl of saltwater overnight. Sure enough, the silver disintegrated and the pink cured hard...

Here's the photo of the silver Apoxie (left) and the pink Apoxie (right) overnight...

Yes, it's the silver gray, and that's exactly what it looks like! damnit.

Have you tried any other colors? I don't really want pink. Has anyone used 'natural' successfully?

Thanks so much, Eight, that's super helpful!

I did not buy pink, I bought the grey. At least I'm pretty sure.

If you do a search with my handle and the apoxie putty it should have a discription

Natural works well. I have 4# of the stuff. Pink, red, and purple also set very similar to the natural.

I found the thread, but no mention of which color you have. The 'natural' color looks fairly gray. Perhaps you have that one?

Glad it was helpful. I banged my head against that one for awhile too, it was frustrating. I also let Aves Studio know that the Silver doesn't work in saltwater.

I emailed them and asked them to let me exchange it for natural. Fingers crossed!
