Looks like aquabiomics is going out of business. Last test will be in Mid august. I believe this is the only resource available to our hobby for checking bacteria and other DNA in our tanks. I recommend everyone run a test.

you can pick up test here.. i'm not affiliated or being compensated. Just passing along a valuable resource. if you decide to do it you'll need to purchase the kits quickly. Last test will be sometime in august before the company shuts down.

Sad that the hobby is losing Elis service. Its one of the greater advancements we've seen in a while, now gone due to the struggle of making ends meet. Ive seen my father go through something similar when he had an LFS, and it was a tough time.

Hopefully someone picks up where he left off, but I doubt we'd see that for a while. Admittingly, ive only used it twice, but found it nice to have the ability to do so if I ever felt the need.

Not something I’ve used for myself, but I value it for the info/datewe have collectively learned.

This is sad, I personally used their live reef rubble to seed my dry rocks. Had them cook in a bucket for 4 months while I waited to set up my new tank. They guarantee their rubbles to be rich microbially and free of pests and parasites. I believe them because my tank has been up 4 months and it's barely gone through the "ugly stage". (i hope i didn't just jinx myself lol)

Is it correct that directly though Aquabiomics the bacteria test is $120 while its only $45 through Moonshiners?

10:1 Salem starts it up. He's already testing the waters.

I'd guess he was doing all the prep and then sending them out to get sequenced in batches. Pretty sure he wouldn't be able to a afford/maintain a $400k Illumina sequencer.
Yes, and was this not the issue with the long wait times to get the results back, since he always needed to wait to have enough samples to submit them to the lab?
