this is great infomation, and is going to help me out a buch in setting up my new tank.

Is there a part 2 or something that deals with even more corals?

I was more thinking about something I could take with me to the store and know what corals I was buying could or should go in my tank. I remember sometime back on another forum Ibn (Eric) showed us a downloadable thing for your phone

Absolutely awsome stuff! Thanks for posting!

Just the stuff I've been waiting for...and I don't even have to pay for it. Wait...does the BAR membership fee counts? lol

I am sure you have heard this many times but I really do appreciates all the little things like this that BAR members and BOD do around here. Although I am a new member, I have been a fly on the wall for years before I had the courage to join and met you all. Well, not really met but kinda "sit-in" in the BOD meeting. Unfortunately, I've've been to only one meeting since becoming a proud member. I would like to have had attended more but I can't due to the conflicting schedule. Anyway, it was actually one meeting that actually made a big difference in setting me straight and helping to guide me to do the right things now that I am an lfs owner. The other wonderful thing is that it was not until my wife and I went to that first meeting that we realize how passionate you guys are in the hobby and how wonderful it is that each and everyone of you try to make a difference in the world, one coral at a time. These are the things I usually don't think about ever since I got my first goldfish home back in the dark dim age other than that they "look nice". My perspectives have changed completely ever since I heard you guys talked about conservation in that meeting. In retrospect, I just want to say Thank You again to help guide me in the right direction as well as taking the time out of your busy life to share and promote this wonderful hobby.

All the best,
Robert

Handy reference. Thanks Norm. I have a few books I would recommend as well. Julian Sprung's Coral: A Quick Reference Guide. This on is simple but informative. J.E.N. Veron's Corals of the World is slightly more complex with three volumes of numerous species. It gives the occurrences in nature to help understand the corals needs. I have both books if anyone wants to borrow them.
