Forecast says near 90 here in SF by Thursday, so even if that's off by 10 degrees it should mean the South Bay/East Bay will hit that.

I just installed my bathroom fan in room with the tank just for the warmer weather and hooked up to my AC jr controller.

Yup it will be cooking the next two days here in SJ ..

Wow I just checked the weather forecast. 93 in Burlingame on Thursday. That is friggin summer in Miami temps.

Thinking I may change my light cycle to start at 9 pm for a while just to keep the heat down. I have a chiller but why risk it.

Great idea Bryan. I started my fan on a timer yesterday in anticipation of the heat and I think I'll adopt your strategy of having the lights come on later.

My lights come on at 3pm so on the downslope of the heat. My AC kicks in at 80deg. Raised the lights a couple of inches to allow more convective cooling. Should be fine :)

My neighbors are gonna love the blue light coming out of the back of my house at 2 am but so be it.

AC what is that?

lol. I lived the past ~30years of my life without AC. I have one now and damn it, I'm going to use it! of course, it gets up in the 110deg+ range in the summer here :P

Just see if you can borrow one of those big fans at the top of the pass. That ought to cool off you tank nicely.

Not to Hi-jack but what would you consider in terms of a degree swing to be in need of addtional equipment (read fans, chillers etc)

I'd start worrying if my tank starting hitting 84. I like to keep mine at 78-80.

if my tank hits 27°C I put a fan on low on the sump, and click it up a notch for each degree higher.

I also have rather large (1800 CFM) fan in the porch area too if i feel it getting to warm I circulate the air around.and open doors.

Only problem is I'm doing everything via readable probes (electric thermometer, glass thermometer) so I have to physically turn things on, which there was a relatively cheap temperature controller so I can turn fans on/off depending upon the ambient air temp.

I dunno if I'd switch my lightcycle around, it may stress the corals out more than just not turning the halides on for a day.

since summer is on the way and the temps are unavoidable, you can slowly transition your photo period. just delay 30min/day until you reach the starting time you want :-D This heatwave is nothing compared to a few months from now

82.8 right now for me - I guess it's a good thing I didn't install the other 400w light on the other side of the tank :D

Will have to hook the fans up though.

I'll be leaving the 400w (rt. side) of the tank off

84 when I get home and the light was only on for 1 hour. I turn off the light eventhough I don't have anything in the tank but the house is hot. AC is kick in full speed but it's not fast enough ;D ..
